Proposal for upvoting bots - Preventing Steem Abuse
Lately, I have been seeing a lot of awful content being upvoted by the vote-selling bots. Although, promoting your post isn't wrong at all, but it should have some quality content. Contrarily, a lot of profit takers have entered steemit purely for the sake of making quick bucks.
Take this post for example
https://steemit.com/photography/@amanat1993/canon-camera
Do you think this post is worth $10.63 ??? (At the time of writing)
Absolutely not, not only that, it can easily be classified as spam.
For the sake of improving quality of the content, I have 4 suggestions for upvote bots
1 - Only users with certain reputation score should be allowed to buy votes.
2 -Only users who have joined steem for at least 6 months should be allowed.
3 - Each and every post should be reviewed before the vote. (tedious)
4 - Last but not least, the reward of upvote should be slightly less than the invested amount. This way, a post with quality content would stay on top and gain "organic votes". Only serious posters who think their content is worth something will use this option.
I personally think # 4 is one of the best ways to ensure quality, and that it can easily be implemented.
If you think any of my recommendation is useful, kindly convey this post to the bot owners if you know any of them, tag them or resteem this post.
Thanks.

I totally agree that the whole bot system needs to be rethought. But I don't agree with all your suggestions, though 4 is definitely a good option! On top of that, can do something so that bots add more weight to certain posts, say that have over XXX characters+video, etc. The logic here is that most spam posts are just an image and two words, like the example you give. There are probably a few other parameters that could be programmed into a bot to be a bit more selective.
Another question that's not raised when people talk about Steemit content is that it is supposed to be democratic. Democratic content does not necessarily mean quality content...(ok that is aside from the bots, but it still is something to think about imho)
Thanks for the post @shehbaznawaz! quality content like this gets upvoted and shared :)
Exactly, there can be a number of ways to detect spam posts. I was just outlining some general ways of scrutinizing the posts
100% agreed with you. Using too much upvote bots the real content writer who donot have much power to upvote his content will get disheartened.
Indeed. I've been a writer and blogger for years, but new to Steemit, and it is really disheartening to see utter crap posts get tons of upvotes, whereas a post it took me an hour to perfect is completely ignored.
I have figured out some things lately, and have run across posts by others telling what works for them, but frankly upvoting myself seems cheesy in the extreme, and I've developed a serious dislike for the bot system as it is currently set up.
Care to check this post of the same person ?
Lol, He used 5 bots

Exactly, this was my main concern. This person is totally running on bots and posting useless content. This is tantamount to ripping of deserving people, who put a lot of effort into their posts.
If he had an interesting or quality post just like you said, People would have neglected it.
Let's hope the rules you stated get seen by whales :)
Could you Look My posts you will love :)

Check out the great posts I already resteemed.
yup
he seems to come from India and works in collabo with a guy named timeall ...strangely enough they don't take out money from steemit all they do is reinvest them in bots lol...let them make a couple of bucks at least they don't have 300 accounts voting for them ;) and like the founder of steemit is: "bank the unbanked"
let them upload a few photos you wouldn't want to read their English any way lol
Aside from that am with you with the reputation thing, I think Busy made a beautiful system upvoting you everytime you post depending on your reputation and on the reputation/steem power of your followers
You got upvoted from @adriatik bot! Thank you to you for using our service. We really hope this will hope to promote your quality content!
