Colorado report card...

Colorado towns listed from best to not the best with reasons why.

  1. Crested Butte: Sure, it is expensive as hell here, but the generosity and kindness of the locals more than make up for it. It has the best set up for being a street artist. They love people who are passing through, because they see $$$ in their eyes and act accordingly. They don't see outsiders as outsiders and have some of the cheapest weed around, in spite of how expensive everything else seems to be. Free bus around town and into Gunnison, if need be.

  2. Steamboat Springs: It is cheaper than Crested Butte and has a set up that fits the street artist lifestyle. It has a couple places with cheap eats and a free bus that can get you all over town. The river has a few natural hot springs and the street people are colorful as all hell. Weed isn't so cheap here unless you buy the crap that is going to seed. Plus, I learned how to be homeless here. it gets bonus points for that, in spite of the asshole on the bike coercing me to leave with his "word magic".

  3. Glenwood Springs: I would put this one above Steamboat Springs, if it weren't for that group of homeless people who were making $100's a day doing nothing, then making fun of me for not selling art. Otherwise, it has a nice setup for the street artist. The bridge is great to display your work without getting rained upon. There are a nice selection of dead store fronts and the weed is pretty cheap. Cheap food can be found if you look hard enough and there are two free hot springs outside of town if you have the means to commute. Best camping, hands down, so long as you don't camp on the "Boy Scout Trail". It is loaded with heroin junkie garbage...

  4. Pagosa Springs: This one would be #1 or #2 if it was set up for the life of a street artist. There are no dead store fronts here and the downtown area isn't too busy. The town is set up to where all of the affordable food is on the West end of town, and all of the cheap weed/liquor is on the East end of town. This means you will be walkin about 12 miles everyday to get all of your supplies and things done. The bus costs money, which is a disadvantage, but that is made up from the sheer beauty of this place, its people and the fact they have the best free hot spring in town. +disc golf. Weed is NOT cheap here. In addition, I got two free rooms thanks to the local churches. I have been treated like a King here. If it weren't for the convoluted setup that drains my energy, i would stay here forever.

  5. Salida: I really do love Salida and wish to put it higher on the list, but, this was the most difficult survival period for me. Making money with art, Tarot, or even begging was difficult. The town is set up just fine, has cheap eats and weed, and plenty of good camping places. It is just that most of the regular people are too poor to help you and the ones who aren't belong to a special club that refuses to help people in need without being first marked with the number of The Beast. Had I had the Number of The Beast, I would be a millionaire in that town, right now. I did meet some of the coolest people there, though. That has to count for something.

  6. Leadville: I don't know, it is ok. It has a cool setup and atmosphere. It has some cool locals. There is a lot of focus on alcohol in this town which was the thing that made me want to leave. This town would be perfect for people who like to get drunk and get into fights.

7: Parachute: Has cheap weed and a good friend. That is all. It literally has nothing else unless you own an ATV and want to go out into the hills.

8: Aspen (Asspen?): I don't know what to say about you, ASSpen, other than you sold out to the Solid Dick of Hollywoods' Satan. You charge for everything. Your rich people treat poor people poorly, you have too many cops, everything about you is plastic and fake. It is a big, plastic dookie in the middle of a beautiful wilderness. Shame on you. Besides, all of your local artists are total hacks and you seem to love them? Asspen is full of assholes. It cost me $20 to make $4 there, that is all I will say. Avoid this town unless you really just love getting fucked by Hollywood all day long...

What About Durango?

Yeah, what about Durango? I was told many times on my adventure how important it was that I visit Durango, as my "art would sell well there."

Now I wonder if it was those people's intention to get me into Durango so I could register myself into the "homeless shelter" here that may as well be a god damned FEMA camp? It didn't work. I am not signing up for that bullshit. The Soup Kitchen rocks, though.

The weed, food and booze are fairly cheap here, however, it is pointless for things to be less expensive when you have difficulty making money due to the swarm of transients that are known meth-heads, which makes the humble street artist seem like a thing to avoid.

I really don't know about Durango yet. It is pretty awesome over all but, like Salida, it is hard to sell art here at a decent price. It gets to be placed above Asspen, for sure.

No Telluride?

Maybe next year I will have reviews of some of the other Colorado tourist towns? I didn't make it into Telluride. That would be interesting, I am sure.
