A new passion

My first Professional camera

As you all know I sold my PlayStation 4 just a few weeks back, the reason for selling the gaming console was getting extra cash for a new hobby hopefully a passion that I will stick to, after selling my PlayStation for 250$ I had enough funds to buy a decent professional camera. I was headed out to discover Pakistan and fall in love with it all over again and I couldn’t convey the beauty of this country on my budget smartphone it wouldn’t do justice and so I set out to buy a Dslr. Being inspired by a lot of friends who have hot amazing scenery I was excited to try my part in promoting the beauty of Pakistan.

The first problem I faced was to buy a good quality camera within a budget, the first thing I realized was you can go crazy in the world of Dslr’s there are so many options and lenses for your choice and so I needed advice. I contacted one of my senior friends who owns a camera for quite a few years and gave him a few options the Canon SL2 or 200D, Canon Eos 60D and Canon 2000D, he straight away suggested me to overlook the 2000 series and explained that for a true digitalized camera in your hand for me to be an amateur or semi pro at photography I’d have to settle for a EOS 60D but this was an older version and might not be available in the market. So I started my journey towards Saddar electronics market and luckily got hold of a Canon 60D for 350$ along with a 50 MM lens this was enough for me to shoot the scenery and portrait shots during my journey.

I think I made the best choice as a 1 year warranty was given by the shopkeeper for any fault in the camera, and it was under my budget for sure, as a beginner when I held the camera for the first time I was quite overwhelmed by so many options to shoot a picture and the contrast of result in each of them. Firstly I tried to limit my creativity by shooting at auto mode just adjusting to it but then gradually I began experimenting with the aperture control and shutter speed, with factors such as white balancing and ISO control, I found it amazing how a certain setting can enhance the object while other settings can totally destroy its beauty. This really made me respect professional photographers even more for the work they do. I kept playing with the settings until the start of my journey so that I could familiarize with the camera.

After having some fun with the camera I came up with some decent shots although not that amazing, I’m still a student in this seeking knowledge from my seniors on a daily basis trying to improve myself. Now that I have returned from my journey I’m thinking of buying another lens for better zoom features any suggestions would be appreciated, and did I make the right choice what model do you have and why did you choose it. Suggestions into photography and any other advice would be appreciated Thanks.
