The Daily Struggle

Well today didn't start off well, I woke up eager to play my daily quests and earn some DEC to push me over the edge of buying an ORB. Only the Splinterlands gods had something else in plan for me. .

I am playing at the very bottom edge of Diamond 3 - with my non max out Gold deck. I have level 6 summoners with the cards I used 80% of the time max to the summoner. I know when I start to outplay my deck and get matched up with others I will not have a chance... but today was different

My rank is about 2900 - and I was consistently getting matched with those between 3700-4400 - Champion League players. After getting CRUSHED and going 2/14... Yes I know I am a stubborn fool who doesn't know when to quit, but is more than willing to tell his kids to stop and take a break. I decided to further my despair and misery by complaining... I mean everyone likes it when someone complains... right? I feel a lot more pressure to play well now that I burn potential DEC with a loss, its not the same as just losing, I am also losing real value!

I went to discord and embarrassed myself for a few minuets. After chatting for a few minutes it finally sank in what a grumpy old man I was being and felt a little embarrassed. @clove71 asked how much DEC I needed for an ORB, and I admitted to just being salty and blamed it on only have half a cup of my Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea of my full french press. I can be a bit cranky without caffeine...

I went off to check on my Nextcolony progress and clean up a few emails. When I came back to see if I could play 1-2 matches, when I was greeted by this message.

I feel embarrassed to get this gift - and want to thank you for giving my day a huge boost!
I went out right away to open it and take a peak Here is what I got.

Well that is pretty good. I needed one more Undead Archer to get him to level 3, and I am halfway to getting my Goblin Chef to the next level. It dawned on me that I need to do more to give back to new lower level accounts that are struggling, and will try to find a way to do so.

Daily Quest - Finally completed

I played 1-2 matches every few hours waiting until I could get a few good matchups and make the push. I was finally able to win, and here is my reward.

Sweet Lord Arianthus. I didn't know these had grown to be $3.50. I remember when they were selling for under $1.00. Boy is DEC a wonderful thing!

The community is what really makes Splinterlands great!

There have been several times I have jumped in to ask questions, and people are always there willing to answer and help one another. I think as we continue to onboard new players, it will only help Splinterlands and the STEEM community get stronger. I will try to drink more caffeine before playing SM next time - it will be better for all!
