The story of the picture.

Hello, friends. I took this photo when I was in Anuradhapura a month before. When I came back from the Sri Maha Bodhi grounds, I noticed this tree in the same ground. Even though the tree was small, it was full of jackfruit, so I grabbed my phone and took a few photos.

Now I would like to share some information about this tree.

In Sri Lanka, we call them Bath Gasa (meaning Rice Tree), because many people in my country eat its fruit as a staple food similar to rice. The fruits of these trees are the largest fruits that can be found in Sri Lankan trees. Some fruits weigh 40 kilograms.

The jack tree is a huge, strong tree that can reach 30 meters in height. Jack tree leaves are dark green and remain the same hue throughout the year. The jack tree thrives in tropical places like Sri Lanka, where there is plenty of rain and sunlight.

The jackfruit has rough greenish-yellow skin. Inside the fruit, there are numerous little yellow segments. Ripe jackfruit has a very delicious flavor. The seeds of the fruits are very large and can be eaten by boiling or roasting.

This jackfruit can be cooked in various ways. Young fruit is frequently cooked as a vegetable in curries or stews. When it is ripe it can be eaten or used in desserts. The seeds of the fruits are also edible and used in traditional dishes.

Jack tree is used for various purposes. The tree's wood is used to build furniture since it is strong and durable. The majority of people use them for construction shelters and manufacture windows and doors. Tree leaves are consumed by creatures like goats, elephants, etc.

Jackfruit is not only a delicious food, but also it has numerous health benefits. Vitamin A and C content in that fruit increases our vision and immune system. It helps digestion because it is high in fiber. Jackfruit has natural sugars and carbohydrates, therefore consuming it might provide energy.

Jack tree is very important in our culture. People prefer to grow it near their homes because they believe it brings good luck and prosperity. It is also considered a symbol of wealth due to its huge fruits.
