Chillin'

Hi Friendly Folks!
For today's post, I decided to revisit Dear Ms. Sauveterre and her design, specifically to experiment with this recent digital style and to refine her a little bit more. I'm taking as many opportunities as possible to play around and find out what works for me, along with what doesn't :B

Started off in good ol' pseudo-blue ink, out of habit. I wanted her to have a more relaxed look for this piece and it seems like I took the term 'laid back' very literally.

Second pass involved giving her more of a body which would help accentuate the pose even further~
I wanted to leave less guesswork for the next phase:

Inking! This is the part of the process where I'll be doing a good amount of exploration. In the end I settled for a very thin airbrush for the baselines, but then used a wet brush for the thicker areas. Although I used to do inking with just one brush type, I quickly grew dissatisfied with the output, and doing it this way has made the endeavour a little more fun :D

I've also been keener lately at using the masking phase to hint at objects, may it be via filling out silhouettes or erasing in empty spaces. As I do more pieces in the future, this will be another area of interest and experimentation for me~

This is the most straightforward pass, since I already have an idea of her general colour palette ;D Zoomed by pretty quickly!

Lighting is always the best part, since everything comes together (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧! I won't bore you folks with the details, but it essentially involved using multiple layers for darkening, overlays for light areas, and final tweaks delivered using the infamous colour dodge tool [It really brings out those shiny edges~].
