WARNING – Legalising Gay Marriage will make your kids change their Gender…

At the moment in Australia, we have a postal plebiscite occurring to determine whether same-sex marriage should be legalised. It has thrown a lot of conjecture and differing points of view into the public arena.

Whether your answer to legalising same-sex marriage is Yes or No is not the point of this post, as we live in a democracy and it is the individuals right to vote as they believe.

The point of this post is the following pamphlet I received today in the mail from the Coalition For Marriage, a proponent for the NO side of the same-sex marriage argument.

As you can see, the Pamphlet is titled:

3 Ways Gay marriage WILL change the classroom….

The 3 ways outlined are as follows:

1. More Radical gay & Lesbian sex ‘education’ programs in schools

The belief that schools will be required to teach kids about gay and lesbian sexual activity in the classroom is just ludicrous. Sex education is not compulsory and you can remove your child from any such program if you wish. It also outs the ‘Safe Schools’ program as a radical program that teaches kids about different forms of sexual activity. I have had a lot of queries from families lately asking whether my school is part of the Safe School program? I had started to become baffled as to why parents were asking about this, but now I know why. The Safe Schools program is a program that discourages bullying of LGBTI students and teachers by making others aware that everyone is different and should be treated fairly.

2. Kids will be taught their gender is fluid

What does this actually mean? What school in their right mind would do this without fear of litigation? Don’t we already encourage kids to ‘do whatever makes them happy’ and ‘they can be anything they want’?

3. Loss of Parent’s Rights

This comment is obviously targeted at scaring uneducated constituent’s. Again, the reference to the ‘gender-bender’ safe-schools program is totally ill-informed. What parent's rights could be lost? The right to force your child to stay a boy when they want to be a girl?

If a child identifies as being a girl, though was born a boy, and we do not do anything to actively monitor and assess the situation, then is this not more harmful psychologically for the child in the long run? I have a little nephew who loves playing with my daughters dolls and dressing up as a princess, a little to the disgust of his father. At 4 years of age, would you think that this is out of the ordinary?

As far as I am concerned this is a blatant and disgraceful use of schools, again, for some sort of political gain. To link Same-sex marriage laws to changes in the classroom is somewhat ludicrous. This is a campaign of scare mongering, which, unfortunately, Australia voters fall for all too often.

I am a passionate advocate for all the things schools do to educate and prepare kids for society and I get very disheartened every time I see schools and the education system dragged into the media for some sort of political gain.

I would love to hear your thoughts, particularly if your country has been through the marriage equality battle already.

Thanks for reading.

Hey Scooter

Love this post. What I'm really scared of is battlwoms getting nail polish and wearing the odd frock.

What's going on there?

In all seriousness though, you are right. This is not an argument about schools, it's an argument about the rights of all people to be happy with the partner of their choice.

Love your work.

Do you think they might be clutching at straws because it's pretty hard to send out a advertising that says "we'll we are bigoted and we really just hate the gays' or 'My imaginary friend in the sky tells me it's wrong so it must be'?

That would just reveal them to be exactly what they are close minded homophobics - much easier to justify your beliefs if you claim you are doing it for the poor defenseless children.

They seem to forget the torture they are putting the children of same-sex couples through at the moment, nor how those parents are meant to explain, mummy and mummy love each other, just like all your other friends parents, but we can't get married because society says our love is somehow less valuable than theirs.

Frankly I'm ashamed that in modern Australia we even have to have this survey, it shows the blatant cowardliness of politicians, particularly the Liberal/national party. The sooner this thing is over and 'won' the better. It's going to be one of those things we look back on and are embarrassed needed to happen at all.

Rant over.

Well said mate

I totally agree with you... though I feel embarrassed by the whole thing already.

Holy crap! That pamphlet is disgraceful. I have been feeling so disappointed with the bigotted BS that has resulted from the postal plebiscite. Your words "This is a campaign of scare mongering" sum it up precisely.

Kind of speechless....

what are parents right anyway?

I dont have children so I might be wrong but shouldnt be your first goal as a parent your child is happy and ready to face life and if your child is gay or a girl who wants to be a boy so be it?

That's certainly my goal as a parent
Well said

I agree. If you don't accept your child for who they are then you can say goodbye to a life long friendship. It's akin to saying, you WILL play tennis, oh you don't like tennis, too bad!! It's embarrassing and frustrating to say the least. Thanks for commenting.

Ahmen.
I think the worst part of this all happening is, It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree. What matters is that we are discussing and voting on the happiness of other people's lifes in the first place. How comes straight people have to right to vote about legality of being gay. to put it roughly.
Compare this to the the american civil war. White people voting if black people should still be slaves or not. How do we look back on that now.

That's true of all voting, though. You're claiming the authority to make other peoples' decisions on their behalf.

Hmmm....did the world end when New Zealand changed to recognize same sex marriage, answer NO. Did the world end when Canada recognized same sex marriage, answer NO.

I thought Australia was a progressive country, it seems there are still biggots and homophobes there but they are in the minority I think.....Equality means equality in everything including marriage.
Thank you for posting this.

Thanks for the comment. It's disappointing that this particular tactic is being used, frustrating actually.

image that your kid at the age of 12 year with a big dick in his ass
running like a made car on a free way
fucked by 16 year old .. the world end here if i m the father. full stop

tough situation

I am sorry, but I have to disappoint you, school never was and never will be a place which educates and prepares kids for society. Schools are institutions which indoctrine the creed of the state into the brains of our helpless children. That will prevent them later to be able of thinking freely and unindependently, so they will become slaves of the state without ever knowing and realizing.

Totally agree @andalucia. That's why I home school my kiddies :)

Cool! Happy kids! Is homeschooling allowed in Australia?

It is, but a lot of hoops to jump through though! My girls are asking to go back next year (yrs 4 &6) I will send them back, but if there is too much crap I will not hesitate to pull them out again (except it interferes with work of course :)

I see. In Germany it's prohibited and highly illegal.
It's nice that you let your girls decide wether they want to go or not.

Wow..I didn't know that! Illegal!! We have been living in a caravan travelling around Australia for 2 yrs. We have now moved back into our home 6 months ago and they won't go back until next year. Our 16 yr old boy won't be going back. He will be looking for an electrician apprenticeship.

Wow that sounds like a lot of family fun! I am pretty sure your kids learned more during this 2 years than they would have learned in 5 years of school.
Very impressive that your son will do this and not being in school for the last couple of years.

Thankyou for your kind words..I must admit, the girls vocabulary surprises me at times :) It was an amazing experience.

I think we are going way too far. Kids should be taught they can do anything they want to, as long as they do not hurt anybody.
