@MrSquiggle the #TeamAustralia Community Bot - How can smaller delegators contribute?
As most people know, I setup a little bot named @MrSquiggle to support the #TeamAustralia community. It started out upvoting every post put up by every member of the community. It was effectively a smaller version of @Centerlink setup by @Ausbitbank. @MrSquiggle was controlled by me and through the weekly curation articles, I am able to purchase delegation of SP to keep the bot at a certain strength.
Currently, thanks to delegations and delegation purchases, @MrSquiggle has 4300SP, but I would like to see that grow to make it a stronger community bot.
After some discussions within the #MinnowSupportProject, I was approached by @Aggroed and asked if I wanted to turn the bot into a true community bot which I jumped at. Now there are a number of very active #TeamAustralia community members on Steemit that can use the bot to upvote or resteem posts. The changes were announced jointly here:
- MSP 2.0- Community Building and a #TeamAustralia Important Announcement
- @MrSquiggle: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Changes to Mr Squiggle - Building Communities with the #MinnowSupportProject
The purpose of @MrSquiggle is now to be a truly community bot. I now see myself as the caretaker of @MrSquiggle and the curators can spread the love to other community members in the form of upvotes and resteems. @MrSquiggle will still post weekly curation and SP delegation update posts to keep the community informed.
The current list of curators are:
@Choogirl
@Sammosk
@Gohba.handcrafts
@Shellyduncan
@Ancientmystique
@Scooter77
@Ausbitbank
@Tomekkk
All of these curators have been handpicked as active members of the #TeamAustralia community.
Giving greater access for smaller delegators
At the moment, anyone who delegates 100SP or more to either @Centerlink or @MrSquiggle receive a 50% auto upvote. The % of this upvote could change depending on the number of delegators that contribute to the bot. I am including @Centerlink delegators at the moment to support both bots, however, this may change too, again, depending on the number of delegators to the bot.
I am now looking at introducing a sliding scale for delegators for two reasons:
- To reward larger delegators to the bot
- To allow smaller delegators to contribute and still receive upvotes from @MrSquiggle
The voting scale I am thinking of will be something like this:
250SP+ delegated = 50% upvote
Any delegations below 250SP would be an equivalent % on a sliding scale. i.e. 125SP delegation = 25% upvote, 100SP delegation = 20% upvote, 50SP delegation = 10% upvote, etc.
Currently, a 100% upvote from 100SP alone = ~0.01c, however, by delegating 100SP to @MrSquiggle you would receive a 20% upvote = ~0.10c in rewards = 100% increase on your investment.
As @MrSquiggle grows in size, then the voting % would have to be adjusted accordingly to keep the rewards worthwhile for delegators. However, the aim of delegating to @MrSquiggle is not just to receive rewards from your delegation, but it is to contribute to the #TeamAustralia community as a whole.
Feedback Please
As this is a community bot, I would like feedback from the community on their thoughts about these proposed changes.
The idea is to have 50% of voting available for the @MrSquiggle curators to use to upvote and reward #TeamAustralia community members, and the remaining 50% available to reward SP delegators to @MrSquiggle.
I am open to any ideas from the community and would like some input into what you think would best suit our community. I want @MrSquiggle to be able to respond to the community needs and wants and together we can all grow.
So, go ahead and let me know your thoughts in the comments. All feedback is welcome.
That sounds like a very good community bot. I hope you are able to sliding scale concept and I will be able to join.

I'm a new steemit user, I joined last week and I live in NSW. I had a good experience with my first post (introduce yourself) so this week have a few steemdollars and steempower to delegate. Being new I find the process of trying to delegate sp to a bot completely bewildering. There's a lot of nanospeak to learn if you are new to this system and steemit in general. I think I've joined #teemaustralia on Discord but I couldn't figure out if I had because I posted one comment and was one of those little green voices that everyone ignores, so I'm currently scouring steemit to find instructions of what steps I missed in that process. I'm also trying to figure out how you delegate sp to the teamaustralia bots. Is there a post somewhere that shows step by step what you have to do to both join teamaustralia and also how to delgate sp to all the different bots, @mrsquiggle included of course, I think it would help a lot if there was some kind of easier to follow beginners guide on how to do this. I couldn't find one. any help or links or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
Hi @angusg, The easiest way to delegate is to use this link: https://v2.steemconnect.com/sign/delegateVestingShares?delegator=angusg&delegatee=mrsquiggle&vesting_shares=206018.067602%20VESTS
This will delegate 100SP to @mrsquiggle. If you want it to be less or more, then you just need to adjust the amount of VESTS accordingly. Come and chat in discord. Here is the direct link: https://discord.gg/rVrSZ8w
You can ask questions or direct message me if you like. Thanks.
Great idea scooter, I will be looking into this once I can build my steem power a bit more, cheers.
