🌻 Sunflower Celebration Citrus French Toast with Minted Kumquat Sauce
In celebration of the gorgeous sunflowers and summer's bounty at the @gardenofeden, we whipped up this glorious dish for our Sunday Brunch celebration!
SUNFLOWER CITRUS FRENCH TOAST
Ingredients:
- Unique & hearty bread like sunflower seeded multigrain, banana, or cranberry orange
- Eggs
- Cream
- Sugar
- Lemon zest
- Cinnamon
- Powdered sugar
- Lemon slices
- Sunflower blossoms
Method:
- Build a rocket stove out of dirt.
- Light a fire in the rocket stove, ideally using wood you rescued from the landfill cycle.
- Grow a forest of sunflowers.
- Beat all ingredients except bread together.
- Lightly soak bread in the custard mix.
- Heat a griddle over the fire, and gently fry the custard-soaked bread on both sides until golden brown.
- Display beautifully by layering with slices of lemon, sprinkling with powdered sugar, and decorating with sunflower blossoms.
MINTED KUMQUAT SYRUP
Ingredients:
- Kumquats
- Mint
- Cinnamon
- Allspice
- Sugar
Method:
- Grow a bunch of mint in any variety you like: pepper, spear, pineapple, chocolate, apple, lemon, lime, orange, etc. Harvest a handful and chop up the leaves.
- Puree kumquats in blender.
- Bring to a gentle boil over the rocket stove with all other ingredients.
- Display imaginatively, like in a goblet rising from the center of your French toast display.
Feast like royalty.
