😍 Through the eyes of a newcomer - An original story about Steemit 😁

Dressed in my very best, I knocked the door of the modern looking house and proceeded to stare at the vaporous name.

The door opened after 2 rings and a 2-hour long wait. I walked in. There were people everywhere. In multi-coloured clothes. There were some in black and white too. I looked at my clothes. Black and white! Never mind, I'd fit right in, I thought.

The people were all talking. Talking... busy talking just about all the things in this universe and beyond. But, they were mostly talking money. I was impressed. Who wouldn't want to be in a room with lots of smart talking people! What a fantastic learning experience that could be, I thought.

What a beautiful place it was! Outside the house, I saw gardens with beautiful plants and swimming pools with dolphins. Every now and then, the dolphins would be surrounded by minnows. They were all friends. Good friends. I wanted to befriend them all too. But, I kept walking for now.

After some time, I noticed that the house had many many rooms. Each of these were again filled with people. I walked by here and there sometimes lurking in the corridors wondering which room to go in, sometimes boldly entering a room and then standing in the corner hoping somebody would come along and talk to me. But, nobody really looked at me as they were all busy talking amongst themselves or writing on their Ipads. Occasionally, some people came by and checked my ID tag, and after checking they quietly went away. They sounded intelligent yet kind and looked beautiful. I wanted to follow them. And so I did! Even though it was night time for me and I was so so sleepy.

There were books on the wall. Lots of "How-To Do This" and "How-To Do That" books. I read some. They were very well written. They were also priced high. Who paid for all that? In the corner, I saw a long queue of people. They were all waiting to be paid. Here again, they were all talking with each other. One day, I knew they would all be talking to me too. For now, I walked on.

In time, I met more people. One person here, one person there.. and another, and another and yet another. There were some UFOs also flying overhead. I stopped one of them and asked why it did what it did. It answered that it was designed and destined to fly around and shower coins on devotees. I told it to count me in too... Now, I was even more impressed. By the minnows, the dolpins, the whales and now these Untiring Flying Objects.

Once in a while, there would be a sudden hush. And whispers would abound... "Whale sighting!" I'd hear and go running to see, and there would be so many coins flying in the air suddenly. But, I wouldn't see. Alas, it was quite sad when it was not meant to be. And so I continued walking.

After some time, I noticed many people became my followers and I became theirs. But that wasn't enough. By now, I wanted to start talking too! My mouth needed some air. And so I finally opened up and started to talk.

The great people all heard what I was saying, patted my back, gave some valuable advice, some coins, and then nodded and moved on. Everybody was on the clock, after all. Tick Tock, tick tock as you know goes the earthly clock.

But, not me. I had plans, goals, wishes, excitement, I had so much more to see, so much more to do, so many miles to be covered before I dro..pp..e..d o..ff t..o sl.....e..e..p. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.
