Crafty Content | Turn a Balloon into a Flower Vase.

I had a container half full of plaster of Paris. Which was used to colour wash my room. I had a plan to finish this amount of plaster of Paris, but I could not work on it for so long as I was busy with academic works.

Finally, we are here in our home again and I started working on it. First of all, I took out the balloons that I bought some months back for this purpose. Then found an old telephone directory, bottle of gum, a big container.

I blew the balloon and tied it at the open end. My mother helped me with tearing paper into small pieces. I put them into the big container with water. Then applied glue on the balloon surface and pasted wet paper pieces on it. Then applied gum on the paper layer and pasted more paper layers. After, let it dry.

After it dried, I marked a circle on top of the paper balloon using a pen. Then I removed balloon inside the paper layers by making a hole using a pin. Then cut and removed marked circle and re-formed the shape using hand. Flattered the bottom as it helps to keep the vase on a table or any other surface.

Finally, I took out my plaster of Paris container. It is a ready-to-use mixture. So, I applied plaster of Paris on the paper layers. Made a thin layer on the whole outer surface. Then let it dry.

After dried up, I used a sandpaper to smoothen up the surface.

Then, I used a black colour yarn to decorate the vase. By applying glue, I pasted cord on the surface of the vase.

After all, I thought about making some flowers for the pot. For this, I used blue colour A4 papers, gum tape, glue, a scissor, a pencil, and some metal cords.

Here are some steps of making flowers. First, cut square shapes from A4s in 3 different sizes: for larger flowers and small flowers. Then drew the shape of a petal and cut them. I made layers of a flower with different number of petals and fill the middle with stamens made from papers.

Then combined metal cord piece with the flower petals using glue and let it dry. After that, I cover the cords with green gum tapes. Also added some flower buds using cotton buds.

Finally made a bouquet with those flowers: larger flowers in the middle and smaller ones outer. After arranging I put the bouquet in the vase.
