Getting Yourself Busy - Be The Doer

Aka aja-aja n'ebute onu mmanu-mmanu [Adage from the eastern part of Naija]

This is a popular adage from the eastern part of Naija, and it expresses the fact that; not until you are willing to get your hands dirty with work, you will not get your mouth oily with food. This; in my opinion; is absolute truism - for you to harvest something from your farm, you must have planted something there before. What would you call someone that harvests where they did not plant? Of course, they would be called "thief".

Sometimes, the temptations people fall into is because they are less busy or idle. When you get your hands busy, the temptations you were trying to avoid would get tired of you and even start to avoid you.

It does not matter how small you started, but the most important thing is that you have started up something, and through diligence, you will make something great from it. Anything you can lay your hands to do, try to put in your best while doing it, and you will be surprised how big it will turn out to be. Some of the big names we know (even in industries and commerce) did not start big, but they had something in common - and that is perseverance.

If you do not get yourself busy with your own business, someone else would employ you to get busy with their own business. It is either you build up yourself or you help others build up themselves - the choice is yours.

The world will only remember doers, and people that were able to move against the tide to make something great happen. It is time to take up the responsibility to direct your own sail. Remember this; you may not have the power to control the wind, but you definitely have everything it takes to direct the sail.
