How my day went at my sister's marriage today 13/5/22: The diary game by @sallyelvis

It's an exciting weekend wonderful steemians, it's still your beautiful friend @sallyelvis and I want to share with you about my activities today.

Introduction

Today has really been exciting and I wished to have you all experience it first hand with me but fasten your seatbelt as I ride you into my experience with my diary game.

Who doesn't like the jollification that comes with marriage ceremony, the music that allows your dance steps to follow its rythm, the merriment of having your eyes roll to and fro as different attires passes by beautifully adorned to make eyes turn, especially in Nigeria, asoebi as wedding attires are fondly called is the reason some of is attend marriages because we will have one or two styles to show our fashion designer that just to add to the thousands already boring our wardrobes,
do I need to remind you that though you have a pot full of food in your house, you will still salivate as trays of food with assorted drinks goes round because there's always something different about party rice, especially Nigerian jollof rice with smoky taste, my Nigerian readers can feel free to salivate 😂.

About today

It was my sister's day, her traditional marriage was the biggest thing on my to-do-list because she lives far away from home and I had to be on ground to do most of the things for her.

The high mark of marriage ceremony especially the traditional marriage in this part of the world is when the bride is brought out to be handed over to her groom because until this time, she is kept in a private room where only few people can see her untill she's publicly called for by the master of ceremony who handles the order of events.

Everyone eagerly looks forward to this moment, her attire everyone wants to see, her makeup must be examined, her hair should fit the day, her dance steps is a show of emotions, as she dances round, money is spread on her as a way of celebrating with her, her friends join her to dance as she goes to meet the man who is officially called her husband.

It's always an ecstatic moment for me and I'll keenly watch and enjoy every moment of it while educating myself and seizind the opportunity to meet with old friends and making new ones but on this occasion, I had barely shot my eyes for two hours when the slaughter man came screaming my name to show where the goat was tied, I was exhausted yet joy won't let me scream back, I simply pointed him to the direction with sleepy eyes while I move backwards to catch some sleep and thoughts just kept coming to my mind how the whole day will look like and with these high hopes and expectations, sleep just vanished that I had to spring into work immediately starting from setting fire for the community women who were already humming a wakeup song for all who came to assist with the cooking. Sitting down during events could be fun but today was different.

Unlike when i have to be a wedding guest, nicely dressed and
comfortably seated to get served while I enjoy the features of the event,
I had to be the one doing most of the errands, making sure people get comfortably seated and well served, food had to be given to the different traditional groups, I had to ensure the groom's family are given preference because that's how it's done in my place, trying to identify who should sit where and organize the venue for the event to fully startthen I ran in and prepared in a hurry to meet up with the event, I wasn't fully dressed like I would have loved to but it's worth it because it was for my sister, got a few shots then ran in to hide my phone.

I got so busy that I forgot all about myself until the event was fully over. Though busy and stressed, I enjoyed the day as the scourging sun later became cool and little it's already getting dark here, I'm so tired but can't sleep without telling you about it,showers dripping as we were packing and folding things and I suddenly remembered I hid my phone inside the wardrobe and didn't take more pictures because I lost my phone the last time a sister wedded, I had to advise myself early because once beaten, twice shy.

The joy of having to plan and execute an event successfully is unexplainable, today I appreciate all those who do event planning as a job, I hold in high esteem those who take care of programs till it is executed and a big shout out to all that are married today.
