Arithmetic Trick: Multiplying Two Numbers that Have a Difference of 2

in #steemiteducation7 years ago (edited)

Hi all steemian friends, on this occasion, I would like to share another interesting basic trick of arithmetic, especially for students who want to master arithmetic. This trick is named as Multiplying Two Numbers that Have a Difference of 2.

Today it rained heavily. You and your family decide to have fun baking cookies. You must roast 14 times the grill. Each grill can be used to bake a cake as much as 16. How many cakes can be produced? To get the answer, we have to multiply 14 x 16.

Here's the ways!

We can use this trick to multiply numbers, such as 11 x 13, 13 x 15, and 24 x 26 which both have a difference of 2. To get the answer squared the numbers between the two multiplied numbers. Then, the result is minus 1. Let's try this trick to get an answer how many cakes have been baked.

Let's try with another example!

(Hint: We can use trick Squaring Various Numbers End with 5, to get the quadratic result of the number ending with 5)

(Hint: We can use trick Multiplying Numbers that End with Zero, to get the quadratic result of 30)

Always remember! The faster you squaring the numbers, the easier you apply this trick. Numbers ending in 0 will be more easily squared (Use trick Multiplying Numbers that End with Zero). In the previous trick ( Squaring Various Numbers End with 5), we have learned how to squash numbers ending in 5.

Let's practice again!

This is all about my explanation for this basic arithmetic trick, follow my post to get other arithmetic tricks, that I will explain in my next post. Hopefully, this article useful for me personally and for you all.
