We wanted to have lunch together somewhere today. And because we did not want to sit in the car for hours, we drove to Rotterdam. That is close, about 20 minutes away.
Restaurant Mood by Eveline Wu
A while ago I understood from an acquaintance of mine, chef Herman den Blijker, that he had sold his restaurant to a new top chef named Eveline Wu.
Since then I have always been curious about the new restaurant and today was the day to try it out.
Where there used to be mainly French influences in dishes with a lot of fish, the trend has now turned into a combination of French cuisine and Asian cuisine. A top combination as far as I am concerned.
It was still quiet when we arrived but instantly we noticed the classy atmosphere. We were pleasantly welcomed and escorted to our table.
Our daughter was allowed to drink juice from a real wine glass and of course we also chose a nice white wine from the wine list.
Sushi and oysters
We are by no means all you can eat lovers. These restaurants mainly serve food without taste.
But this restaurant also had sushi on the menu. We had to try that.
We ordered some oysters in advance and as main course a boat with all sorts of different sushi's, sashimi and shrimps.
Our daughter had Steak tartare in advance and then ordered spring rolls of duck with a homemade sate sauce.
And everything had a fantastic taste. What fish had to be tasted like fish and what meat had to be tasted like meat. What a relief!
It was special for our daughter too. In this way she learns to recognize real tastes and learn the etiquette associated with a restaurant.
Never again to an all you can eat restaurant!
Mood in Rotterdam is a must!
