This animal statue is in the British Museum. This is a fabulous horse from the quadriga of the Mausoleum at Halikarnassos, dating from 350 BC.

The mausoleum was in Bodram, Turkey. Part of Asia Minor.

wow fascinating! And nice shot of the corner of the museum!

I was trying to get the security camera :)

awesome quality photo :) I only wish i could take as good a photo as you.

These type of photos are easier. The subject does not move unlike a real horse.

Quadriga means 4 horses... imagine the full thing!

You are right about being one of 4. Accordingly it was originally 19m up on top of the building.

Great picture. These pictures always make me wonder how much more impressive the complete statues were though...

You can see a lot of the original building in the museum. It was destroyed by earthquakes in the 15C.

When I see these ancient works of art it makes me wonder just how smart the people were back then. The proportions of the horse are just right. They certainly knew what they were doing. I doubt we have the same skills these days to work just with our hands.

I agree on the skill needed. I am sure we have the skills, just not the time. They must have been very expensive even them.

Time is everything I agree. Skills possibly but time nope.
