Scary Flight Infotainment Screen that shows Flight Route

I was traveling from Hong Kong to USA when I took this picture - flight infotainment screen with beautiful flying route.

OK. Why scary/terrorizes? It was a 12 hour flight in late spring with Cathy Pacific. The flight was full and I was just off from work and took the flight. Everything was fine until about the 2nd hour, where the flight passed Taipei....

I was looking forward to the 1st meal in flight because I was not have enough time to get food after work. Before the food cart arrived my seat and served me food, the flight shakes a little bit. Well, it should not be a great deal as that is air turbulence zone. But things was strange because the flight attendants suddenly quickly moved the cart back and double checked everyone to fasten the seat belt.

About 10 minutes later, near Ryukyu Islands, flight captain told everyone something was wrong and we had to fly back to Hong Kong. What? Scary?

I was taking this picture and want to tell my friends how pity I have to fly back. I did not aware it was something big happening....

Hong Kong International Airport is a very busy Airport. Very usually, a flight has to fly around Hong Kong for a few circle to wait for landing.

The flight I took shakes a lot during the return phrase, and flight attendants rarely show up, all sit down. The flight used a very direct route and trying to land immediately near Hong Kong... why suddenly so efficient?

I was not aware of what happened, but soon I learnt that 1 of the total 2 engines stopped working! The flight only have 2 engines and 1 of them broken...........how scary.....

It might not be the most terrifying story, but this is what I Love And Hate.....I love the infotainment screen - every time I look at this screen I feel great because I am free and flying to somewhere else; I hate it because I am really scared by this bad experience. Since then, I try not to look at the real-time flight route..... and pick a different airline for USA trips.
