Digital Currency, Neuro Computing, AR, AI, Games in 2017 Anime
Here comes a new vision for our future, shown in 2017 Anime Movie Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale. It shows how we could extend our life to the coming digital world, based primarily on Augmented Reality (AR), Neuro-computing (Elon Musk’s Neuralink), Digital Currency (crypto, bitcoin), AR games, AI idol, and AI systems that know your preference. I will not go into the story line in this story because I think many of you did not watch it yet.

Let’s go to the details of our main story today!~
Sword Art Online’s latest Movie Ordinal Scale is about the society evolve to a point where AR become adopted to the mass population. The AR device used is called AUGMA, where the design is like a bluetooth earphone we are using now. Here is the info of AUGMA, compare to the full dive device AmuSphere shown in the previous series of SAO.
There are various applications of the AR technology, and it is providing service to everyone including elderly with AR Neuro-Computing OS, where everyone will be able to use it in day to day basis, communicating with others, replacing smartphone and computer we are using every day. Sending messages is easy as moving fingers that virtually touches the overlay buttons. The visual part seems to be tapping into nerve of users, no need to where AR glasses. As long as users put on AUGMA, the system works.
Money is stored in digital form as we are having crypto/bitcoin today. There are stores to buy products, and if you win games that AUGMA provides, you may even be able to use the bonus point to redeem food and products as well. This is an important point in the story because this attracts a lot of people to use the system, which could be the next business model we would have in the near future. Here is what it looks like.
To play the games provided by AUGMA, depending on what the games you play, you will need a handle like the one shown below to assist you. Unlike mini game you can play with just your fingers, participating in the game Ordinal Scale requires this handle, which you will be able to use it as if you are holding a weapon, such as sword and gun.
Entering the game in the areas specified by Ordinal Scale, they will be dressed up differently as they want, and be able to use the control handle. They will also be using the MMORPG system menu as well.
When entering the special stage of Ordinal Scale, they will see a stage that Computer Graphics (CG) replaces the buildings in the reality. This part is similar to the Accel World. This is some example that the system brings in the CG overlapped AR environment
When the special stage finished, the CG will go away like this
One interesting aspect of the AR battle in the game is, users will feel the force of the virtual enemies even they are using AR system, not full dive VR system or in real life.
When the users used up their HP (died in game), they will lose their dress up until the battle ends. This is called Hunt Down in the game.
What is more interesting is there is a AR Artificial Intelligent Idol Yuna, who can sing and interact with the users in real life. She will also be holding concert as well!~
So now, are you excited? I wish I can enjoy the AR experiences as shown in the Anime sometime in the future when I am still alive. And I would probably want to tweet this to Elon Musk to see if he would be interested in making this happen in the future.

Really nice article. I am a big fan of SAO, even made an AMV when the first season was airing, but youtube deleted it due to copyrights issues. I think they take it real serious :D
Mm. I would prefer an VR game over a AR game, it gives you more options to the designers in my opinion.
