Mura basically features:

  • Content Management
  • Content Personalization
  • Site Management

Basically, Mura CMS is an open source platform that promises to save digital content producers and managers from a lot of fuss.

@dimitrisp, our developer Language Manager, will be in charge of proofreading this project.

Why this project?

After completing JabRef, the reference management software, I started going though the white-listed projects and Mura seemed to be the less demanding considering terminology. There are some strings that puzzle me with specific terms, but thanks to @dimitrisp's invaluable help and some googling, I can overcome such "obstacles".

Also, Mura CMS seemed like a very helpful tool that I would like to see being used by more people. Therefore, by submitting a good Greek translation, I aspire to see more Greeks using it in the future.

Contribution Specifications

Translation Overview:

The original text contains 7463 words. It's pretty much as big as JabRef and I believe I will finish it in 6 - 7 parts as well.

When I first started working on it, about 1% of the second file was already translated and approved by a proofreader outside the DaVinci-Utopian Translations project. This meant I had to check all these translations first, before working on the second file, in order to make sure they were correct and would not mess with the wording coherence within the text as a whole.
I have already begun working on the second part of the project and dealt with those strings. Some of them were correct, but I still had to fix a few of those as their translation was either wrong or didn't follow the wording and writing style I am using. Changing those translations was inevitable, since coherence means a lot to me.

Languages:

The original text is all written in English and it is my task to translate it in Greek (my mother tongue).

In this session...

Activity Overview:

I went through the first file of the project, en_US.properties. The English text was only 1128 words long, meaning that after subtracting an 8% for duplicates and untranslated words (which were few), I would be very close to the 1000-word baseline, but I wanted to finish each part separately and didn't want to work further on the next file before clarifying some terms first.

This part was relatively easy, as I had to translate buttons like:

"Contact Information" = "Πληροφορίες Επικοινωνίας"

and messages like:

"Your access has been temporarily blocked.
Please try again later or contact your site administrator for assistance." = "Η πρόσβασή σας έχει αποκλειστεί προσωρινά.
Παρακαλώ προσπαθήστε ξανά αργότερα ή επικοινωνήστε με το διαχειριστή της ιστοσελίδας για βοήθεια."

Word Count:

According to Crowdin's word count tool, in this session I translated 1128 words. After subtracting a rough 8% for: a) untranslated words (like email) and b) duplicate strings; I can say that I have translated about 1035 words.
Very close to the 1000-word limit, but as I explained, I wanted to finish the first part first and do some more research on certain terms of the second file before continuing with it. @dimitrisp also needs to decide on which of my suggestions he prefers, before I get the green light to continue.

Proof of Authorship:

Note: No Activity Screenshots were added after the new guideline we were given on August 2nd, 2018.

TL;DR

I have started working on a new project. Mura CMS is a management system for digital content. The project is not very demanding overall, but there are some things that need consideration and research. @dimitrisp has the role of the proofreader again. In this, first, session I have translated about 1035 words and once I get permission to go on, I will continue working on the second part.

Credits

This was your 1st contribution to Mura CMS and your 10th contribution overall to the translations category!

So, here we go again: new project, new series of contributions. You are now translating Mura CMS:

Mura is an open source content management system, meant to make the creation, editing and managing of digital content easier.
It is the perfect tool for content managers, content contributors, marketers, developers and IT professionals.

This project seems easier for you right now. You had a few minor issues that were directly related to my OCD once again (meaning that they wouldn't change the meaning of the translation, but I also had to settle the score thought they would be a better fit.)

As you mentioned, your contribution is very close to the word count limit, but that's no problem, as you needed to do a thorough research on a few things (and of course, I always welcome your questions!), and your contribution post is excellent

I'm already waiting for your next contribution, to see how this will progress for you. If the past projects are an indication, your translations will get better and better each time (meaning that you won't be spending a lot of time researching and asking questions)

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.

Thank you for another review!!

As time goes by and projects too I start gaining more confidence and thanks to you I learn a lot that help me become better in my translations. Some strings are quite frustrating, especially without a context, but discussing them together always helps achieving a great final result.

Thank you for your review, @dimitrisp!

So far this week you've reviewed 2 contributions. Keep up the good work!

This is such a good initiative and I'm jealous that you can read Greek. When I was at University I always thought how I should have taken greek to read classics and such in their proper language. I have enough trouble with latin and that uses the same alphabet :)

Regina rosas amat 🤣 (one of the very few Latin sentences I remember from high school).

I always found latin easy and I enjoyed classes back at school. Greek would have given you a harder time, that's for sure. At least considering phonetics, spelling and that stress system (It's so nice that over time writing became simplified and we kept only one of the 5 stresses).

The truth is that by studying certain languages, you can gain better understanding of others. With latin I could make better connections and understand the roots of words in english, french and of course spanish and italian. The same happened with ancient greek, it helped me understand and speak better modern greek... Oh! languages have always been a true love for me! If only someone would pay me to learn as many as I can.
