Flash Fiction Visualization, pt. 1
An Adventure
A tall man sits in a chair, eyes disconnected from reality. Deep, dark-colored circles collect like heavy drapes on his wrinkled cheeks. He shifts his weight and barely gets his right ankle crossed over his knobby and calloused left knee.
His chair is positioned at a patio set. Embedded patterns on his chair match those of the table. This patio set isn't one of the mass produced copies of last century. Still, some personal attention had planned and executed this design and construction. It had all the signs of beauty from what you might call human imperfection.
The man looks out at no one with heavy focus. Perhaps he was having a vivid memory, the kind that your body voluntarily motions when rapturously transported to an earlier time and place. Perhaps he was losing his mind.
He blinks out of focus and notices that his shadow has grown longer on the veranda. On impulse, he stands and follows his shadow out the thick wooden doors and into the greater world.
