Happy 4th Of July, Burger King In Tokyo

in #food7 years ago

What could be more American than apple pie on the 4th of July? How about a burger at Burger King in Tokyo!

I did it. I broke down and went to a crappy fast food chain for a hamburger. After hanging out in Starbuck's yesterday morning doing some trading and waiting for the typhoon to roll in, lunch time snack up on me. I wandered around Hachioji doing a bit of exploring to parts I haven't yet visited looking for somewhere to eat lunch.

Unfortunately the good places like the American Club, don't open till dinner time.

So I ended up searching for burger joints. Had my fill of ramen & sushi lately and just needed some good ole America, patriotic beef. Mos Burger, Freshness Burger & Burger King were the 3 hits I got. Now, as some may know the Japanese burger chains mix their beef with pork or some other meat that makes the burgers rather bland. I hadn't tried Burger King in Japan so I thought why not.

When I got there I got the most patriotic burger I could think of, a Double Bacon King, which isn't shown on the screen shot below. Had to go big on the 4th and show some American spirit. In addition I decided on a German Beer to wash it all down. Yes, many fast food places server beer in Japan.

I'm not really a fan of BK back in the states, but this burger hit the spot. It tasted just like a burger back home, 100% beef and fake American cheese. While the bacon may look under cooked, it's actually ham, which was a disappointment, because while ham is good, it ain't bacon. In addition, the fries were actually better than in the states. I'm not sure if it was the oil they fried them in or if the potatoes were from Hokkaido, but they tasted "special".

Happy Fourth of July everyone! I would recommend BK if you're ever in town and want a burger that tastes like an American burger.

My favorite burger joint in Tokyo (not that I've tried all of them, but…) was Teddy's Bigger Burgers (Japanese site) in Harajuku (map). It's actually a chain that originated in Hawaii, and very authentic as far as non-Japanese-ized burgers go. Pricey, but good for a treat.

Awesome. I'm down n Shibuya a lot so maybe I'll drop by there. Thanks.

I love eating, one of the biggest pleasures in life. But do it with moderation, since overeating is very bad for the heath. And happy 4th July.

Yep, easy to eat healthy here then spend those savings on delicious, unhealthy food. YOLO!

I'm sorry the burger was less than great!

If you travel to Pyeongtaek in S.Korea, there's this burger joint in the mall there and they were actually DELICIOUS!

Do they not sell hamburger meat in the stores? Can you find an air force base to try and sneak on? Hahah I bet their base club will have a burger! Haha

Some day Farm.

They sell ground beef, etc. in the stores, but the chain burger joints mix the beef, so meh. There are let of independent burger shops that make fantastic burgers, just those are downtown. The Sasebo burger, which has an egg on it, is amazing. If I have the chance I always order that when at a burger joint.

Burger King! Try it next time! Marked and thanks for recommendation!

It's not the best, but it's 100% beef and tastes like an American burger. There are gourmet burger joints all over Tokyo, but I've yet to visit one.
