Boulder Sunday - Beautiful Sedona, AZ

in #bouldersunday7 years ago (edited)

We took a trip out to Sedona several years ago, two trips actually, and of course we took a lot of pictures. There are so many interesting rock formations in Sedona it's hard to pick one to post about. I chose this one because I have no recollection of it.

It's more than a boulder, it's a large sandstone formation. The stone gets it's red color from iron. These iron/sandstone beds stretch up into Southern Utah. You can see them in a post I did about Cedar Breaks, Utah https://steemit.com/travel/@rt395/destination-unknown-p2-brian-head-peak-agates-and-the-orange-cliffs-of-cedar-breaks
They are just stunning to see in person. I'm not a new age person, but I can easily understand why they consider Sedona to be a special place.

Here are a few more pictures of rock formations, not the famous ones life Coffee Pot Rock, but just random, interesting formations that the locals probably have names for.
