How I found steemit and the Steem block-chain
I have been on the Steem block-chain since Jan 2, 2018. I was first made aware of the Steem block-chain last year because of a Wired magazine article talking about getting paid in crypto currencies for blogging. This seemed like and interesting idea but I didn't follow up at the time.
The owner of the vineyard I was working for in November of last year got into a conversation with me about how well he had done in the crypto markets of 2017. He said he had made enough profit that he was able to buy a bitcoin miner and still have profit plus original investment. Wow! At first I blew him off about crypto until Bitcoin started it's ascent to 20k.
We talked about cryptos when we would get together and I mentioned that I didn't like the fact that bitcoin was limited on transaction speeds. We talked about cryptos not going to become main-streem until a block-chain could process as many transactions as fast as Visa could. I found ripple and we discussed that but I had no income to invest in cryptos at the time. Steem was also on the list of block-chains that could process as many transactions as fast as Visa, this crypto has the potential for actual usage as a currency instead of just an asset. I still had the tab open with the Wired magazine article open to the Steem article and said I should try this free site.
Around the same time Facebook was nice enough to say thank you for 10 years on our platform.
10 years on platform and all I got was a non-sincere thank -you....
I also watched 4 major changes in Facebook that I didn't like and was never asked my opinion about.
I made you how much money through my interactions with your platform and all you can give me after 10 years is an intrusion into my privacy and a thank you....
I was literally just bored with the regular market.. My job is in the financial field and it was getting to the holidays that were slow... And everyone was talking about bitcoin (including my clients), so I figured I'd try to learn something about how it all worked. I don't even remember how I heard of steemit, but that is the end of the story. I don't even like regular social media, but this place has some real potential based on how it is structured!
