# 445 - Some Canadian History - Part 15

A few years ago it issued a series of silver medallions related to the Canadian History.
They weight around 11.6g (0.37oz), have a 92.5% silver purity and Proof finish.
I could not find how many different medallions were issued, but I have 20 of them and they will be shown chronologically.
The fifteenth is the 1849 - Rebellion Losses Bill and the burning of the Parliament buildings.
Rebellion Losses Bill, modelled on Upper Canadian legislation, was introduced by Louis LaFontaine in Feb 1849 to compensate Lower Canadians whose property had been damaged during the Rebellions of 1837-38.
The English-speaking people saw the bill as a sign of French domination of the Union and their own loss of power and they criticized it as payment for disloyalty.
Governor General Lord Elgin signed the Bill into law on 25 April 1849. He was attacked by an English-speaking mob in Montreal and the Parliament buildings were burned.

Ooo I had no idea canada had a bit of rebelliousness in it’s history.
That was due to the dual colonization: French and British.
