Learning Adobe Illustrator

Yesterday I revealed that

I started on something special, something that I hope to be able to reveal shortly but can't right now because its a work in progress and I want it to be perfect before I reveal it(and I'm not skilled at all in what I'm doing right now so its pretty funny watching myself fail).

Even though its not perfect I think I should reveal it, especially the amount of time I spent on it.

I tried to make myself a logo of sorts. Not for a business, but for an identity. My identity.

No, this is nowhere near perfect, but I'm not an artist. I started to lean how to use adobe illustrators yesterday and have spent a solid four to five hours trying to figure it out.

After spending an hour trying to figure out the tools, I made this as my first design. It ended up looking like this. (I did have a plan on paper on what I wanted to make).

So this was pretty bad. Not aligned at all. But I knew what I wanted to do. Not bad for a first attempt.

Then I moved onto:

It was more straight, and I didn't use the sword tip for the end of the R. I thought the sword tip was better and moved back to that later. This was straighter and I included another extension on the left.

After that was:

This was a lot better. But I thought that removing the center of the R would look cool for the next attempt.

And this is the fourth one I made:

I think that this is pretty cool. Simple yet useful. Now that I like the design, I just need to size everything out right so it doesn't look so bad. This will probably take me two or three hours with bad Illustrator skills. Back to work I go.
