A wonderful day to all fellow steemians! Today I will be discussing about the five game changing inventions that changed the world.
A great number of inventions have helped mould human civilization the way it is now. But some inventions not only brings progress to us, but totally changed the world we live in.

Here are the five game changing inventions that mould the world we know today.
1. The internet
The internet might be the single most important invention of this century. It is also the invention that brought us to the information age we are in now. The internet doesn't just have one inventor but rather a collective inventors. The internet was developed in the 1950s along with the computer. But it was only in the mid 1990s that it gain popularity and world wide usage. The internet enables us to have instant messaging, two way video calls, voice over Internet protocols (VoIP), electronic mail, telephone call, entertainments, and of course access to a sea of knowledge. The internet is so important to us, that we can't imagine life without it today.
2. Firearms
The firearms one of man's greatest and worst invention. The advent of firearms marks the end of the era of cold weapons. The fire lance, the predecessor of the firearms was created in the 10th century in ancient China. It then spread to the Middle East in the 14th century and Europe in the early 13th century either through the Silkroad from the Middle East or by the Mongol's invasions. The firearms evolved from a simple hand cannon to the flintlocks, and to the guns we know today. The invention of firearms is definitely a game changer. It's effects to the world is great. It also changes the way we fight our wars. Its invention gave power to the common man, anyone can use a firearm with very little training. But the invention of the firearms also brought with more devastation and death, than the time before it. It's uses makes our war more deadly, WWII alone had death toll more than all our previous wars combine. This war also led to the creation of our most destructive weapon. The atomic bomb.
3. Airplanes
Since ancient times, man had always dream of traversing the sky like the birds. They first tried to copy the birds, by attaching man made wings to their arms, they also created a machine with wings attached to it called the "ornithopters". All resulted in failures. The concept of human flight is deem impossible until the invention of lighter-than air balloons in 1783. But it was impractical for commercial flights as it is unpredictable and can only travel the direction the wind is blowing. In 1799 sir George Cayley presented the first scientific design for a fixed wing aircraft. At 1849 the first glider flight was made by a young boy using the glider designed by Cayley. December 17, 1903, the first controlled, sustained, power flight was made by Wilbur and Orville Wright. This led to more advances in aerodynamic study. The invention of the airplanes finally fulfill man's dream of flying to the sky. This also make continental travel easier and more affordable than ever before. The convenience and importance of air travel cannot be stressed enough by words alone. But that is not the end of our desires for flight, as we even went as far as the moon. How far can we go? Only time can tell.
4. Lightbulb
The first lightbulb was not invented by Thomas Alva Edison in 1872 as it was popularly believed. Instead there were 20 known inventor who tried to developed the electric light several decades prior to Edison. The only reason that Edison was credited to its invention is because he was the one who developed the first successful, commercially available lightbulb. The invention of the lightbulb had great impact to world. Without it we would still be using fire as a source of light at dark places and at night. It also brought us a safer and cheap alternatives to candles and lamps. Thanks to the lightbulb our night is as bright as day.
5. Wheel
This should be a no brainer. The wheel is the invention that paved the way to industrialization. No one knows who, where, and when the very first wheel is invented. According to anthropologist the earliest known record of the wheel is found in Mesopotamia in 3500 b.c. The invention of the wheel led to the invention of vehicles like cart and automobiles. Thanks to it, the transportation of people and goods becomes more convenient and easier.

You are very right with the list but the most astonishing invention for me is the internet which makes the whole world to be like just a small room and also the airplane can't imagine how such thing will stay in the air for hours and won't fall. Nice 1
