Chrysler Building NYC
This photo was taken from the 44th penthouse floor of 150 E 42nd St. The Chrysler Building is often regarded as a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture. It was created during a time when people were scrambling to make New York City the home to the tallest building in the world. In 1926, Walter P. Chrysler, one of the wealthiest men in the auto- motive industry, entered his bid in the unofficial competition to build the tallest structure in New York City. He wanted an office building exalted enough to symbolize his own astounding ascent in the business world. Today the Chrysler Building continues to be used as an office building. It is a very popular tourist attraction site in New York City as well. Admission to the building is free but tourists are allowed only into the lobby considering that the building is used for business.
