Technocracy III: Transhumanism vs. Bioethics
Inverting the notion that science is supposed to improve the lot of society, there are now scientists that want to use it to punish people for their hubris- the idea that we are somehow superior to animals. This is transhumanism, not to mention science itself, run amok- allowing the mental meanderings of lunatics past the sphere of mental masturbation into the realm of reality. What I'm talking about (among other things) is the Humanzee... the "creation" of psychologist David Barash who calls it a "terrific idea." Although he recognizes that it would be difficult it is, in his words, “by no means impossible or even unlikely that a hybrid or a chimera combining a human being and a chimpanzee could be produced in a laboratory. After all, human and chimp (or bonobo) share, by most estimates, roughly 99 percent of their nuclear DNA.” Why would anyone embrace this proposed lunacy... to wipe out racism, of course. Not racial racism, it seems, but racism between species. According to Barash: "“Moreover, I propose that the fundamental take-home message of such creation would be to drive a stake into the heart of that destructive disinformation campaign of discontinuity, of human hegemony over all other living things.”
The Bible teaches us (on page 1) that we were created after the other animals and given stewardship over them. Genesis 1:26 reveals, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.'” This means that we are to care for them, not manipulate them genetically. The biggest problem with Barash and his ilk- believe me he isn't alone in this- comes in the realm of biodiversity, and more importantly, bioethics. As we race headlong into this Brave New World in which scientists are allowed to play God- and make no mistake, that's what a technocracy is- the problem of bioethics looks large and ominously on the horizon. For example, scientists have started a company that will kill you and freeze your brain, so you can be brought back at a later time. (see links below for more details). The question arises, in what body will this brain reside?
When the proposition of cloning first came up, this was the first concern that jumped out at me right from the start... When you clone a human being, what do you get? Is the "product" human... if so, do they have rights? They most certainly will possess all of the same human characteristics as the rest of us- including emotions. I used to do a lecture entitled Designing the Perfect Society, and I brought this up and asked these questions of the students... the answers were really telling. What if, for example, a rich person who had themselves cloned for "spare parts" in case of a catastrophe, needed a spleen? Is it not murder to kill the clone for it, if it's indeed human? Would it be legal? It would most certainly not be moral or ethical. Of course these concepts being "subjective" these days, I'm sure it may not create a problem at all- except among Christians, of course.
Going back to the Humanzee for a moment. Let's say that Dr. Barash gets his way and we make some of these creatures. Where do they fit in? In what milieu will they live... as pets? In a zoo? Or maybe in a circus side show, so rubes can throw things and laugh. When asked similar questions, Barash shrugged them off: “This is possible, but it is at least arguable that the ultimate benefit of teaching human beings their true nature would be worth the sacrifice paid by a few unfortunates.” 'Because we can' is never sufficient reason to do things without first considering ALL possible consequences. What if this technology is used for political purposes- to silence dissent by the ruling elites? Scientists never seem to think past their own poorly developed social skills.
When I wrote The Asshole Quotient, it was about what kinds of people seek power over others and why. There's an old joke that goes kind of like this (if I can remember it): When humans came to be, all of the organs began a debate over who would be in charge. the brain said, "I do all of the thinking- I should be in charge." Then the heart said, "I pump the blood- I want to be in charge." Likewise, the stomach said, "I do all the digestive work- I think I should be in charge." And so it went until the rectum chimed in, "I want to be in charge." All of the other organs laughed, so the rectum shut down... Before long the stomach couldn't digest, the brain couldn't think- in fact none of the other organs could function properly, so they all had to give in... and ever since- the asshole has always been in charge. The point is, if there's any possibility that something- the mental masturbation of scientists included- can be used for ill, sooner or later it will. There is no possible upside to Barash's nonsense and it should be relegated to the dustbin of terrible ideas. As for the notion of freezing brains for later use- the question remains, for use in what body? To begin with it is considered murder to kill a healthy human (one that isn't in any life-threatening circumstances) just to preserve the brain. This isn't doctor-assisted suicide to avoid a painful lingering death.
All of these "scientific possibilities" belong in the realm of mental masturbation as I wrote before... they have no place in the real world. However, in a technocracy, they will play an important role in preserving "sustainable development." If these semi-human Humanzees are relegated to the animal kingdom, they will have no rights, but will prove useful as docile (maybe) slaves. The elites may freeze their brains and come back in bodies stolen by willing accomplices in the future- the Invasion of the Body Snatchers, with a new twist. Who knows- in the Brave New World of a Technocracy, anything is possible... even tyranny!

The problem of technocrats (engineers, technicians, scientists) becoming bureaucrats is that their conception of possible reaches beyond reaches of sociopolitical reality. Technocratic autocracy will give propel men to new heights of material wizardry at the cost of man's identity as man. When everything is reduced to materialism, what value does a human life hold within the technocratic universe of our new masters? Science has no capacity to provide answers as to the question of ought, it only answers how. It is a remarkable sign of social degeneration, when society elevates technicians to provide answers to the critical questions regarding morals.
The problem is that this is not even science, these people make their crazy theories and "investigations" with purely political objectives, seeking to end religion and destroy the moral values of society because they are a problem in its materialistic way of seeing the world.
They are the same ones who supported the Darwinian evolution to end religion, but forgot at the same time the racism implicit in the theory. Then they fight against racism even among different species (if you can call that racism) but they still maintain Darwinism. And in the end they claim that biology is a social construction and that genres don't exist. That is not even science, it is politics disguised as "scientific facts", so that nobody contradicts them.
Very well put... And definitely a sign of social (not to mention moral) degeneration!
So this is happening now in Canadastan as Gov't tells staff to stop using these longstanding....pronouns

Thankfully - God won't have it...
Amen... these lunatics are going way too far. This genetic mixing is for punishment. There's a different crew that believes that because animal organs can't be transplanted into humans for any length of time, if they mix all the DNA it will solve the problem! These people are utterly insane!!!
There is a bible verse that makes total sense in this context:
Revelation 9:6 (KJV)
And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
LOL... you got it!!! I think I put this in a previous post. I think it was the one where one doctor called Dr Frankenstein a "brilliant scientist." I was yelling at the computer screen "no he wasn't, he was a fictional character!" Ultimately, their goal IS to conquer death. That was the whole thesis of Mary Shelley's book- man's inherent fear of death. What God teaches us is to overcome the fear, not death itself. In that context, the verse from Revelations rings more than true... They will overcome death (much to their dismay)
Now that I'm old, death is something is something I think a lot about. Life is eternal, I believe that this is the first step of the journey... check this out- it's life in the making- the finger of God

It is only the body that dies... Epicurus of the Atomist School in ancient Greece said: "There is nothing to fear in death, for death is merely the dissolution of atoms and there is nothing to fear in the dissolution of atoms, for when death occurs the soul has already departed the body." Be of good cheer my friend and comfort yourself with the fact that God always prevails in the long run (I cheated and read the end of the book)
Oh yes - I saw that when it came out. It explains prayers - and God's (instant) knowing of every hair on our body, our thoughts, our hearts, who we are. Even science now knows - but refuses to acknowledge. Well, have it your way.
The thing about death is, you won't be aware of the sleep time till you're raised from the dead to meet with Jesus in heaven. As far as we're concerned, it's going to be instant. Time, is after all, a artificial construct, and God, and therefore us after all, are timeless beings.
Amen to your article and wonderful response Rich!
Thanks Brother... God's job keeping track of every hair on my head is getting easier by the day!
They called it junk DNA because they couldn't conceive of what it was used for.
These same "scientists" a few years later, talk about monkeying with DNA to create new species.
In my opinion they do not know the first thing about life. And until they do, they should not be allowed anywhere near a sequencer.
Further, this entire man evolved from monkeys thing should have been stomped into oblivion. It is clearly, and obviously, false. There is so many holes in it that it shouldn't even be called a theory. Still, many "scientists" believe in it and defend it to the death.
And why isn't Darwin banned from all public universities for him being an intolerable racist?
Very good points all... Thus (with Darwin) began the downfall of legitimate science. It's just been one mad hypothesis after another. The reason that Darwin isn't banned for racism is because someone(s?) has conveniently deleted the last part of the title. I always tell evolutionists that if they believe that they evolved from monkeys they probably did. I, on the other hand, was created in the image of God and am therefore vastly superior (they hate that argument).
The real hubris lies not in people believing they are superior to animals (to some extent they are, depending of course on superior in which way... I'd hate to try to outrun a cheetah). The hubris lies with scientists who believe they know much at all about genetics. I'll use this analogy... if the states of America represent what there is to know about genetics- the states west of the Mississippi represent what scientists think they know. In reality, Rhode Island represents what they actually know!
I would say even less. Because i know a great deal about the area that is unknown.
And that would make the spot smaller than Rhode Island.
Further, i know that i don't know very much, so the part that is totally unknown makes our current understanding about the size of a period.
One of the most interesting things about man is that we have 23 pairs of chromosomes.
And all of the other primates have 24. Now, how did that happen?
Of all the other genetic switches that COULD happen by chance, getting 23 is not one of them.
(so modern scientists just ignore this blatant finger print of God)
What is going to be found out is how we are made in the image of God.
Why do we have free will and the ability to self analyse?
This is what makes us different then the animals.
And sometime in the future, we will find the 24th pair of chromosomes in the human genome.
It is quantum, or multi-dimensional. It is why we have a connection to the realm of God.
If you didn't know, DNA are a circular in one view and bar shaped in another. Or, a perfect magnetic antenna and a perfect electrical antenna. We will soon start working on what communications we are picking up with our DNA. (and 5G will go away to be replaced by something much more wholesome)
Ah, such a brilliant phrase: "mental masturbation"...maybe thats my problem... But I think you've hit upon a solution: we just need a bigger ass hole through which these idiots will be expelled.
The problem we all had when Obama was president-absent asshole syndrome... like they said: "If you voted for Obama you can't shit here because your asshole's in Washington!"

anytime someone starts talking about 'ethics' hold on to your wallet.
The question is, are we approaching the days of Noah?
Powerful stuff, well said man.
Sorry I cannot be reading as much as I used to, that is why I address it near the bottom of my posts now.
I am still laughing over my pirate comment and your booty!!!!
This is too powerful for the average scientist to undertake and if his theory isn't successful what effects on society has he created? Some things should be left for a higher authority in my opinion. Thanks for the interesting post.
