There is Only One Way to Save Steemit
Grow the User Base
Unless we get a wave of new users now, it looks like the price of Steem will continue to plummet down to just a few cents. I don't know this for a fact, but after researching and reading posts from users like @najoh, this is my honest opinion. The price is already so low that it is hard to make any money right now. I actually have no hopes of making any substantial payout on this post, but I do feel a responsibility to be honest. Especially since I really thought the price was going to bounce at around 20 cents and even made a post that encouraged people to power up.
The Plan
I am not going to do this by myself. It would only work if we all go out and do it together. We need to decide on one or two people that we want to join steemit and all get together to convince them to come over. If I was Ned, I would be working out exactly how to do this. A while back I posted about two people that I think would be perfect for this - Joe Rogan and Graham Hancock.
Maybe if 100 users wrote posts about Joe Rogan and why he should come to Steemit, it just might happen. I would guess there are at least 100 Joe Rogan fans here and if we all genuinely expressed our appreciation of him and why we would like him to come to Steemit, I think he might do it, just for his fans. Plus, have you seen his most recent stand up on Netflix... Hilarious.
Where is Ned
I see a lot of people talking about how to help the platform, but I haven't heard a lot from the CEO lately. In fact the last post from Ned was about his new gold ring. Before that, he did call for curation and community action, which we have been doing, but that was 2 months ago.
It seems to me that Ned is taking the approach of, if you build it they will come. I think this is a good approach for Dan and for all the devs that continue to create new tools for the platform, but not for the CEO. The CEO needs to be creating and communicating the vision for the future of the company. As the main decision maker for the company, he is who is ultimately responsible for the success or failure of the business. At least that’s the way I see it, and that’s the way I would look at it if I was CEO. Which I am not qualified nor would want the responsibility just to be clear.
Honestly, at this point I am pretty discouraged. I actually expect this post to do nothing but hurt my reputation here, but I don't care, I do believe Steemit has the potential to be huge and I just wish we could save it from spiraling down into nothing.
If nothing else, I am thankful for everything I have gained from this platform. I have had an education about many things while being here and it is only because of the little extra money I made here that I now owna little bit of bitcoin and a few other alt coins like AMPs from Synereo. I really think if we don't grow the user base fast enough before Synereo hits, it will be the death of the Steemit dream. Maybe not the end steemit completely, but the end of the dream to be the gigantic social media platform that it could be.
Just now the price of steem is about 14 cents and still going down

It does not matter, Steemit is brand new; the lower the price falls the more people who will buy steem. If anyone is selling then someone is buying. I highly doubt it is cryptocurrency traders buying steem.
So that means it is either forgers needing to launder their dirty money so they can pawn it, or more likely steemians buying to power up their accounts. Over time the whales will have less of the massive power votes and there will be more dolphins and whales around to show the voting love.
This will take time but sometime the unnatural artificial balance of super whales powering down will start to meet a meeting point percentage versus powerful steemians powering up.
People hate change and one of the few things they hate more than change is uncertainty. Once some semblance of balance starts to be achieved and predictability becomes more positive things will start to improve . . .
If anything is wrong with steemit it was that crazy super high that blew peoples minds about what was or is possible, now that reality is starting to set in, people are unhappy; that is understandable.
In the mean time stay the course and be aware " the beatings will continue, until morale improves " so stop talking about Steemit and start writing about Steemit ! ! !
Just offering a point of view; and of course I have never been wrong, i did actually think i was wrong once; turned out it was just mistaken ...
I hope so.
I hear your voice my online friend, all I can hope is those smarter than me have some clue as to how all this might play out. This does not seem in any way to be a scam etc. (or if it is I certainly cannot see it) so this is all legitimate and I am all in. Even if it is just for the experience of being around a product launch lol.
Remember this is a BETA test so it is my impassioned belief that the minds of the people who came up with this idea are not just aiming to wave good bye to it and to see it fail. I believe by sharing the steem around a more balanced voting pattern will emerge for stability across the platform.
What what do I know, I tried to pay my association fees last year with box-tops, only to be told ; cash or credit was required ! ! !
No idea to this day why the township refused to take box tops as payment considering how the economy is going . . .
lol, I am full agreement with you there buddy :)
There will always be people who for whatever reason want to buy some steem. Who truly cares if it is one steem for 20 cents or five steem for a penny. Someone will have some and someone else will want it occasionally . . .
If Steemit can capture one percent of the FaceBook marketplace share we will all be able to self finance our own campaigns for the White House ! ! ! Remember Apple, Ebay, Amazon started somewhere to back in the day; many did not make it, but even today MySpace is still online : )
That should tell you something about the potential and saturation of the Social Media marketplace footprint across the internet, and here you get free shareholdings in a brand new Social Media platform ! ! !
Good point
Absolutely, but that doesn't nessesery mean bring in celebrities, it had been done before and doesn't seem to work very well
Well, where is Satoshi Nakamoto ? )
How else? I'm just trying to think of publicity, marketing, or advertising that would actually work fast. That's all I can come up with. lol, Where is Satoshi Nakamoto
I am thinking of an small email campaign to traditional blogs to come partnership up herein on Steemit as well. If these blogs can bring over there readerships, maybe the waves splashing us minnows will not seem so unsettling . . .
New users are coming every day

You don't really need Ned to make them want to stay, sometimes it would be enough just say Hallo, welcome
When ever I small a new fish i always say hi, I tell them to start following 99 ppl immediately and to start voting and commenting within their FEED.
This will give a new player a smaller POOL (get it "water" ) to swim around in, thus they will get to see regular ugly faces and become known.
Once they know where the lighthouses, rocks and sandbars are located then they can decide to take a dip into deeper waters on Steemit ; when they feel safe and ready . . .
It seemed no one spoke to me for 8 months when I first arrived here, well it was only 7 months but it did seem longer; we must mentor new sucker fish...
Arh, did i just say sucker fish ? I meant minnows ! ! ! ; )

Wow! That's awesome! Thanks Project Better, great project!
Great piece and thanks for sharing. Happy to upvote and follow. STEEMIT simply needs more exposure on other Social Media Sites. Where I can I share stuff on Twitter✔ for my followers to read. More need to do the same to Facebook etc. It just needs more people talking about it. We are in essence doing nothing if we just moan about it. Again great post. Stephen
Thank you. Yeah, I think as we continue to build the community here and improve our content quality and curation, while the devs build the software, steemit will continue to grow.
I could not of said it any better. It is up to the users to make STEEMIT work not the developers. They have done their bit. The users simply have to provide regular quality and original content as well as sharing it rather than moan where the price is. This does no good at all. Looking foward to reading more of your stuff. Stephen
Come on here Joe Rogan!
But seriously, I've been trying to message some youtubers and all, really too difficult to contact and convince someone over.
Steem is not dying or in trouble it is simply returning to the mean before it can start another hype cycle
