How to Use Your Desires and Beliefs to Take Action

Why should you believe in yourself? Why should you believe in yourself so much? What value does it give you to believe in yourself? The first question to ask yourself when asking yourself these questions is "What's in it for me?" When we decide to believe in ourselves we become focused on our values and beliefs.


Believing in ourselves means actually having faith in our abilities. It means actually believing that YOU CAN do things - even things that seem impossible. When you believe in yourself, you have the courage to take bold steps forward and take new things into your life. And, you will find that when you have faith in yourself that you will be able to achieve more than what others think you are capable of achieving.

So often we find that those who look like they could use a little boost in confidence have a serious lack of self-confidence. Why is this? Because they believe in themselves but they don't believe that others see their strengths and abilities the way that they do. Once they begin to believe in themselves though, they discover their strengths and start utilizing their strengths, thus enhancing their self-confidence even further.

One reason that some people don't have good self-esteem or confidence is because they are not self-compassionate. Self-compassion is when you are driven to use your strengths in the place of weaknesses - in other words, the absolute opposite. The best way to get back a good self-esteem and strong self-confidence is to develop self-compassion.

In the book, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Dr. Neff writes," Everywhere men live by acting upon their past mistakes and current failures... Men are more critical than the animals. They value what they cannot afford to lose more than they value what they can have." In this way, Dr. Neff gives us a great example of how to develop self-compassion. Instead of focusing on what we do not have, focus on what we do have. What is it that we are willing to give yourself over to be successful?

I often tell people to forget the critics and to stop focusing on what they don't have and focus instead on what they do have. To develop self-confidence and a good character, it is essential that we be true to ourselves and to our abilities. If we are not, it becomes very easy to fabricate an image of who we think we are. It becomes almost impossible to be anything more than ourselves. It is necessary, then, to cultivate a sense of inner peace, with all the confidence in the world that comes from being who we are, without distortions.

This book is an excellent example of how to be self-confident and confident about yourself without being egotistical or overly critical. It will help you keep moving forward, as well as keep questioning yourself and developing your abilities. A good life coach will guide you in this journey of self-discovery and growth.

The Way to Start Believing by Debbie Millman is an excellent little book that will motivate you to look at your abilities. By making simple statements about your strengths and weaknesses, you can start believing in yourself and developing your abilities. It may seem a little strange at first, but being able to believe in yourself means that you already accept who you are and who you can be. This is not the same as blind faith, which just leads to nowhere.

When you start believing in yourself, instead of trying to cover up your weaknesses, you can work on developing your strengths. This has the added benefit of boosting your self-esteem, too. When you know that you are capable of doing things, you are likely to take action. When you don't believe that you are capable of doing something, you procrastinate, and delay until circumstances dictate that you have to act. When you believe in yourself and your capabilities, you are motivated to take action.

The book concludes by suggesting a series of activities that will further boost your confidence and increase your self-esteem. If you want to raise your confidence, start reading books that focus on what your strengths are and how to use them. If you want to develop your abilities, look for opportunities that will help you do whatever it is that you desire. These activities, coupled with your belief in yourself, will get you well on your way towards having a successful life. To get a life coach, feel free to ask around. Your local library and bookstores may even have information on self-confidence, motivation and other ways to improve your confidence levels.

The book does not indicate which approach will work best for you. Rather, it is up to you to decide which steps you want to take to make your life better and more confident.
