General Belgrano Bridge ~ WaterColor In Progress
Watercolor Wet on Wet
This will be a silhouette of the bridge with the sun setting and reflecting on the Paraná River along with a close up of the Pink Lapacho tree flowers and some middle ground Lapacho trees. Information about the bridge and tree linked below.
Wet on wet is a technique of applying paint to wet paper, really fun to do but you gotta work fast and I get shaky hands under pressure. I taking a break to post an update to let my painting dry, you can see the paint is still wet.
I draw the images on transfer paper and transfer my image onto my water color paper, which is over 20 years old, no erasing and ruining my ancient smooth pressed 60lb cotton paper.
The Pink Lapacho Tree is also used as Medicine
Our conversation about @jlufer's idea for a painting.
The General Manuel Belgrano Bridge is a road bridge that joins the Argentine cities of Corrientes (capital of the Corrientes Province in the Mesopotamia) and Resistencia (capital of Chaco in the Chaco Region) over the course of the Paraná River (near the confluence with the Paraguay River).
Handroanthus impetiginosus, pink ipê, pink lapacho, or pink trumpet tree is a native Bignoniaceae tree of America, distributed from northern Mexico south to northern Argentina. Lapacho is the national tree of Paraguay, and it is also a common tree in Argentina's northeastern region, as well as in southeastern Bolivia. According to Native Trees of Trinidad and Tobago, this tree is not indigenous to Trinidad, it is introduced.
It is a conspicuous and well-known species with a long history of human use. Consequently, it has a range of local names: ipê-cavatã, ipê-comum, ipê-reto, ipê-rosa, ipê-roxo-damata, lapacho negro, pau d'arco-roxo, peúva or piúva. The timber is sometimes traded as "Brazilwood", which properly refers to the unrelated Pernambuco tree (Caesalpinia echinata).

To see the post I could not avoid getting melancholic by the emotion of seeing something very important of my land, in a place as far as yours.
Thank you very much for the beautiful words you have used to represent our Correntino icon.
Heart appreciation dear friend @reddust this beautiful work
I just finished the sky, the water will be next! Then the trees/flowers will follow and last the glorious sun reflecting on Paraná River. It's the second largest river next to the Amazon. Your special tree the Pink Lapacho, is very special, it holds cures for diseases 🌱 I am really enjoying the research, your part of the world is amazing. The first European to cross the Paraná river was way back in 1550. The Natives, which you are part of hold incredible data regarding health and medicines from their forests and lore....thank you for sharing a little bit of your world with me @jlufer.
Great, my anxiety is enormous, if it is true my people have an interesting story, worthy of being told, thank you very much dear friend @reddust for this beautiful work of my province
I covered the tree, flowers, and sun with a rubber glue and found the sun had turned into the moon. Your favorite tree and the bridge that connects two shores will be seen in the moonlight. I was going to add more colors to make a sunset but that didn't seem to be the way this story should be told. @jlufer
How odd I started this thinking of the sun and found moonlight instead.
As soon as I finish the sky and the water, I'll rub away the glue and finish the tree, bridge and flowers in soft colors only seen in the moonlight🌕
This is beautiful, great idea of the moon, when this shine if you authorize me I will use the picture to make a post with the history of the General Belgrano bridge, thank you very much for this advance.
I admire your work dear friend @reddust
I want to mail you the picture so it will be yours to share with your family. I will include a contract giving me rights to print copies, and you will the right to sell it if you wish, you will have publishing rights to use the painting in your story. I should finish the painting by this coming Wednesday. I would love to be part of your preserving and protecting your people's way of life.
