Din's Fire: A project to create a decentralized intelligence networksteemCreated with Sketch.

in #chainbb7 years ago (edited)

Centralized or privatized intelligence serves only the interests of a small group of executives and shareholders. In contrast to a central or private intelligence, however, decentralized intelligence will be publicly available and also serve the public interest. Not to be confused with public intelligence groups like @phibetaiota, however, decentralized systems will be entirely based on blockchain or blockchain-esque technology. Blockchains allow the sharing of critical pieces of intelligence data with the entire world while also protecting it from tampering, censorship, destruction and of course, centralized "authority".

Currently codenamed "Din's Fire" (after the Goddess of Power in the Legend of Zelda series), my objective is to create the first ever open-source DIN - decentralized intelligence network - built on blockchain technology. The core of Din's Fire will utilize ChainBB and the Graphene blockchain made famous by Steemit and in its same, wondrous spirit.

The idea of integrating intelligence with Steem and Steemit comes from the supposition that in the future proper intelligence reporting will also make quality blog posts and web content that can then be used to support individual projects, efforts and the collective of operators. No central authority of DIN would exist to dictate its overall mission and objectives, but rather it would be an extension of the collective groupthink of its participants when given a constructive opportunity.

Basically, what do you think happens when you incentivize and decentralize quality intelligence gathering, analysis and reporting?

Many will inevitably find this idea dangerous as it greatly empowers the most disenfranchised individuals in society. Blocks within the blockchain are also entirely unchangeable once they have been agreed upon. For many reasons there will be attempts to abuse such a system to personal gains and interests. All in all, however, how is this different from the dilemma of any blockchain organization today?

What this really means is that history, for the first time ever, will no longer written by the "winners". The people who live and die in various states of crisis will have a voice and a part in changing their condition for the better. The truth, as it were, will finally endure. Consider this the next stage for my existing projecting The Pizzagate Wiki.

Over the next few weeks I will be contacting users like @jesta and developing a working model, but for now I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions on the project with my fellow Steemians and begin with any feedback you might have.

Thank you as always!

resteemed, excellent idea!

a suggestion is that the network should also host analytic tools such as relationship mapping software, GIS templates, statistical software, flowcharting, text mining, case management sw, and anything else we can get our greedy little hands on

perhaps also it should host intelligence tutorials and manuals.

Thank you kindly for the solid reference material as always!

Steve, it's a great idea with one suggestion/caveat: it's creepy/disconcerting to think that even more people will have access to our information, i.e., relationship mapping. Now, if we're going to use this on the intelligence community, that's another matter.

But I love the idea. With open source investigation on the rise, we've got some people who aren't very happy to have their butts hanging in the wind for all of us to see.

If only there were only handcuffs on these sanctioned criminals...

it's creepy/disconcerting to think that even more people will have access to our information, i.e., relationship mapping

It's a valid concern; especially with those people that use doxxing/swatting/online stalking to intimidate political opponents.

any tool and/or info that is on Din's fire is subject to abuse

What concerns me is the abuse beyond political/ gov / deep state , that small percent of unfortunate, extremely unhappy people who enjoy tormenting their fellow man, who would /do also misuse these resources. Guess you can't have it both ways.

Nice to meet you!

there are some people who just like to wathc the world burn...and to drive 55 in the fast lane ;>

nice to meet you as well!

Me thinks this is awesome! You know where you can talk about it when you're ready.
Sunday night show is always available to you @rebelskum. You too @stevescoins.

im opening up steem.chat if you want to shoot me the radio info, Frank

hi please follow me right now i'm following you bro. https://steemit.com/@sabresaad

Ah-ha! That's using the ol' noodle! Excellent ideas!

let me know if I can hep with anything on this project; my IT skills are rusty and out of date, but if you need any conceptual help

Aye aye, cap'n. I have much love and respect for ol' @stevescoins personally.

Resharing @phibetaiota
We already feel that Steem will organically build this Network
that you seek. It's rudimentary, but the real abilities will come
from people like @jesta who build Analyst Tools on top.
We would also like to submit the following article to you
to look at...

Keeping many of the key words, hash tags, and steem tags working
to aggregate the info to the right people.

Lol.

"collective groupthink"

What's the worst that could possibly happen...

Haha, it's definitely an uncomfortable concept to think about, but in the end what is Steemit? And is the groupthink of dusty ol' CIA spooks in D.C. somehow better? Believe it or not I'm going to have to go with the Steemians on this one.

Lol. I totally get it man.

everybody that uses Din's Fire is going to have to use their own critical thinking to suss out bias in analysis created by other users on the network; having sources and methodology available on the blockchain is going to make that so much easier

and echoing @rebelskum, better Steemers than Deep State hacks!

'Bias' has gotten a bad rap lately. What the world needs is a lot more bias. People should have an intractable bias for morality, for goodness,

Probably the best argument for bias. If you're going to be adamant about common decency I for one won't put up a fuss.

no problem with that, but we need to clearly present our bias while analyzing and presenting data...as long as we have different cultures we are going to have different morals

Morality isn't subject to culture.

Muslims in Europe that sexually assault Western women certainly think they are being moral. Liberals think that calling people racist over political disagreement is moral. Actual racists think that intermarraige between people with different skin colors is immoral.

What you and I consider to be moral is dependent on our upbringing, cultural setting, and personal research

Ah. To be capable of such reframing (well, it would be reframing for me) is truly a worthy goal.

It's a hard thing for me on this one; I believe in absolute truth and morality; I understand that people believe what they have been taught is the basis of morality; the most effective way to change that is via a universal moral code; it's hard to set a standard moral code without use of force, and finally bringing it home, that using force to make others believe what you believe is immoral...yes, my head hurts after writing that ;>

Everyone believes what they do is good or right or just or whateve other value judgements don't mean 'bad'. But that doesn't mean that it is, nor does it mean it's open for interpretation. Morality is absolutely not relative, it is not situational. You proved it yourself by your own example: rape IS immoral, regardless of culture or any other variable. Thst is an absolute; an axiom mathematically.

Brilliant!

It reminds me a little bit of Barrett Brown's pursuance project except DIN would be using blockchain tech. It could very well be that BB may also opts for the blockchain. Do you see any parallels or comparisons here?

Anyways, i love the idea but as you mentioned there is potential for nefarious agents to harness the tech in
undesirable ways. I'm not very tech savvy, but I'd like to help anyway I can.

Most definitely was inspired by BB, but so was Pizzagate Wiki. Considering he's had some difficulties staying out of jail, however, and my personal bitterness levels are over 9000 I figured it's time to start kicking things up a notch. I will definitely be asking for feedback from folks like you though and by the end we should have a beautiful addition to an already groundbreaking platform.

Awesome link, thank you!! Wish I would have caught it live.

I wasn't familiar with the project, so I did a quick google and shared some basics (your post was the first result LOL) for anybody else in the same boat I was in ;)

It's a very interesting project, I think it's going to take time for people to fully grasp the concept but I think it has tremendous potential, as does @rebelskum's DIN proposal. Very exciting stuff, especially considering the power of open sourced and collaborative efforts that have taken off in recent years.

the bulk of any intel gathering is done by OSINT methods; about 10-15% come from secret HUMINT sources; obviously that kind of intel is going to be rare. Agencies work hard to keep those sources secret to protect the flow of data

The bulk of OSINT is subject to Information War methods, and all HUMINT sources are as well.

get the data, sort for bias, analyze, then double-check and triple-check

it's never ending lol

DECENTRALIZATION is the LIFELINE of cryotos!

good post

Thank you so much for sharing this great thoughts. Im blown away from the beautiful and just quality good content over here in steemit.

I hope codename "Din's Fire" will be a success, and i think many other people would hope this, too. So i shared this beautiful content.

I think its important to support pieces like this, while most stuff in internet is shitty...

Have a good night tho

Thank you very kindly! This concept has been in the works since I started on Steemit and the pieces lately have been aligning o so perfectly. Stay tuned :)

Cool idea.. i never thoought of decentralizing intelligent netwokrs

It's definitely far from how traditional intelligence groups work, but we average folk finally have the technology to up the ante on this.

I an intrigued by the things you share but far from grasping all of blockchain.
