The great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)
Once in the forest on a photohunt, I heard a woodpecker knock. I looked around, went to the sound, making my way through dense thickets. And bypassing the tree, I saw THIS!
This woodpecker was yellow-red! No, the white balance is not overstated, it's fine. "Reflexes" from grass, trees, etc. are absent.
Hey, buddy, what happened to you? Do not be afraid. Everything is much simpler.

We have small water formations in the forest, namely puddles, in which old leaves and vegetation will fade. They turn into some reddish-brown liquid. Here, for clarity, the autumn photo of the river.

And apparently this woodpecker bathed just in such a puddle, from which he became so dirty.
