The Black Sea in November or how to find peace

in #photofeed7 years ago (edited)

The sea has a magnificent silence in all the chaos generated by wind, waves, birds, a silence that you have to live at least once in your life.
As I mentioned in the previous post, I live in a mountainous area The tradition is that every summer, on vacation, everyone goes to the sea to enjoy the sun. Going so many times in the summer I have gotten fed up by the crowd and agitation there all season. I always wondered how the sea looks without tourists, without loud music, without agitation.
In November, with no plans, guided only by the weather forecast announcing some stormy weather at sea, I climbed into my car and left to find my peace.

After a night drive, somewhere around 5 am I've reached the seashore. My dreams of a dramatic sunrise quickly scattered because the sky was too cloudy to see the sunrise, so I opened the trunk of the car (which was my home for the 3 days I stayed there) I made a coffee and listened to the serenity of the sea at dawn.

To make matters worse my plans of photographing the sea on a stormy day went to s..t once the sky cleared. As it turns out that the day would be great for some sunbathing but not for dramatic storm photography. But it is what it is. When life gives you lemons...
Got my backpack, locked my car and headed down to the beach to enjoy the chilled wind with the waves being my background music.
Being such a beautiful day I spent it walking up and down the beach photographing every little thing that caught my eye.

As the night came, I found myself in the city of Constanta. So I headed down to the touristic port to photograph the abandoned Casino and surroundings at blue hour.

I've never slept in the trunk of my car by then but it's surprisingly comfy.
The next morning after I had my coffee I headed to Tuzla where I've read that there are some fishermen down at the beach and thought that they would make some great subjects. Long story short, I got there a little too late as they've already left for the sea so I took the day to photograph some long exposure images.

The last day at the sea.
Headed to Costinesti to find a shipwreck and do some more long exposures.

The thing is that when I left from home I had a picture in my head of what I was going to do while I was at the sea. When I got there it was everything I imagined it to be in matter of desertion, tranquility, salty air, quiet but photographically, it was a disaster, at least at first sight, then I remembered that I went there to find silence and peace of mind. Once I remembered that I just made do with what I had and enjoyed every moment.

Here's some more photos I took while I was there.

wow i remember my days when i was on the sea @raoul-poenar

Tell me more :D

Great photos, Raoul!
Thanks for bringing the sea to us. I've missed it and I also enjoy come to the seaside during winter. Now I'm blue. But it feels good :)

Sorry for making you feel blue :( Not my intention. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Again: it's good blue, it feels good, it's beautiful.
The old saying: "I'm blue" does not apply here :) So, you have no reason to feel sorry.

OK, glad to hear it :)

Nice series of images! Did you add birds to the first image?

Thank you! It's a composite from 2 images. The first one is a long exposure of the wreck and I made another short exposure of the birds flying around it and then blended them together in Photoshop.

You have some great images on your profile. Followed you :D

I figured there was no way to get a long exposure of the boat and have birds.

Nice touch adding the birds. ☺️

Thank you! :)

Big detail! it passes for my blog and sees my new content, greetings :D

another set of great shots, i am following you :)

Thank you so much!
