Que no se acaben los abuelos / That the grandparents do not end
Ya no nos sentamos frente al fuego a escuchar a los abuelos contar sus historias.
Pocos caminan por senderos aprendiendo las viejas maneras de vivir de la tierra.
Ya nadie se sienta a beber de la fuente de la sabiduría del viejo.
Que no sabemos si nos equivocados luego de perder a nuestros abuelos, o perder a nuestros abuelos fue el inicio de toda equivocación. El tropiezo del apuro, el error del olvido.
Perder a los abuelos es perdernos a nosotros mismos.
We no longer sit in front of the fire to hear grandparents tell their stories.
Few walk on paths learning the old ways of living on earth.
No one sits down to drink from the source of the old man's wisdom.
That we don't know if we were wrong after losing our grandparents, or losing our grandparents was the beginning of every mistake. The stumble of trouble, the mistake of forgetting.
Losing grandparents is losing ourselves.
Abuelo-memoria, abuelo-paciencia, abuelo-tradición, abuelo-concejo.
El abuelo tiene las palabras que necesitamos cuando buscamos concejo, busquémoslo para saber de dónde venimos, de dónde vienen nuestros ancestros, aprendamos como vivieron en el pasado para saber cómo vivir en el futuro. Y seamos los abuelos que necesitamos en nuestras vidas.
Grandfather-memory, grandfather-patience, grandfather-tradition, grandfather-council.
The grandfather has the words we need when we seek advice, let's look for it to know where we came from, where our ancestors come from, let's learn how they lived in the past to know how to live in the future. And let's be the grandparents we need in our lives.
Hoy escribo estas líneas luego de enterarme de la muerte de mi abuelo, a él y a mi padre @sergc, gran abuelo de mi hija, les dedico este post.
