Costa del Sol – II

Welcome to the Costa de Sol, where the sun, sand and fun beckons.

As I mentioned last week - 👉 HERE, Benalmadena sits in the center of the Costa del Sol. From Arroyo, where Roger resides, we are ten to fifteen minutes’ walk to the beach. The week before last we took a long walk to the right side of the beach. Last Sunday, we took a walk to the left side of the beach.

Here are photos from last Sunday’s walk. As you can see from the photos, there is not a lot of difference whether it is to the right or to the left of the Costa. It’s apartments, shops and eateries on the road and more restaurants, cafes and shops on the beach promenade. However, the beach promenade here has more space and it is more easy to walk – despite it being very busy.

Restaurants and souvenir shops

A common sight and smell on the promenade is Espetos. These are skewed Sardines cooked over charcoal fire. A speciality of the restaurants on the beach. They are a popular item.

Another common sight on the promenade are African hawkers. They sell imitation goods like shoes, bags, wallets, football jerseys and caps, watches, sunglasses....

A walk on the Costa de Sol is never boring. There is much to see. It is such a busy, interesting and exciting place. No wonder, it is one of Spain’s most popular attractions.
