Weapons of Mass Destruction? Nukes? Guns? Gunpowder? What is the worst possible invention that did or could do the most harm to humanity? The instrument of tyranny that has caused the most damage in the history of mankind.

THE TELEVISION

The weapon of mass deception, the television. It is the most destructive instrument to the health of humanity. It has caused untold amounts of tyranny, it started with the Nazis using it to push propaganda movies, and since then every single war was caused by it, the untold amounts of deception, propaganda and brainwashing that it has done, it is surreal.

The TV doesn't just simply lie to you, but it actually creates an inversion of reality, a matrix world, lies stacked upon one another, making people live in delusion their entire lives.

I have already made a post detailing how an average TV program works:

We don't even have to look far, just the fairly recent War in Iraq, all based on lies, promulgated by the TV. Millions of people died including 500,000 children. All because of this BOX OF DOOM.

And now with more and more terrorism happening in Europe, the TV constantly keeps you in fear bombarding people with negative news, to keep them under fear.

You know Britain has survived a Nazi carpet bombing, half of London was destroyed by Nazi air raids and people didn't became coward little worms, it actually made people more courageous and brought people together.

And now some arab terrorist with a fucking confetti can make entire Britain live in fear? What the FUCK?

These people had survived the trenches of WW1 and the terror of Nazi Germany, but they are scared of some violent arabs?

This is the damage caused by the TV, it turns self-respecting independent, free thinking people, into slugs. Brainwashed zombies roaming the Earth.

People are so scared that they need to wear diapers just to go outside and buy a bread, because there might be some shady arab in the bakery. WTF?

This is literally mental enslavement, people used to go out, kids playing in the parks, but now everyone is frightened sitting at home watching the news on the TV telling them what other horrible thing happened today.

You have to admit the psychological damage and the propaganda damage caused by the TV makes the nuking of Hiroshima look like a Sunday Picnic.

any country that fears an armed citizenry must have reason to.

No modern military fears a few drunk rednecks with guns. Sorry to burst your bubble!

so why ARE they so concerned?

All valid points. But I'm sorry...you still have it wrong.
There is only one worst invention
...and IT IS,
and ALWAYS WILL BE....

Tony Little's - The Gazelle!

Lol. Sure, there was no propaganda before TV.

Not on this scale. In 1930 only about 2-5% of the population had a radio. And smaller newspapers weren't exactly this evil.

It's not just the fake news, it's the entire zombification of the population that are glued to the screen.

I still read my local newspaper, and even though I see some biases from time to time, it's nothing like the TV.

Information prior to TV/Radio was pretty much a giant telephone game. By the time news reached the next city it would probably be so altered as to be completely different.

Imagine something like the conflict in Syria, and no one outside of southern Turkey or Northern Iraq knew anything was even happening! The government and competing powers there could do even worse than they are, with no one even knowing about it let alone caring or arguing against it.

It's a bit of a double edged sword, but frankly conservatives/libertarians/anarchists seem to think there's far more "control" over it than there is. There are multiple news stations, hundreds if you include local news stations, each presenting their own take on various issues.

Plus, if you're really looking for something great at spreading propaganda you should check out this new fangled "internet" thing. Anyone can post anything, and that "anyone" could be the exact same people you think are controlling the media... except with less oversight, and more anonymity.

You are mistaken, many always overweights the few. The mere fact that you can push through information that would be automatically censored or ignored in a mainline TV station is already overweighting all potential drawbacks.

Like the Snowden leaks, that would have never been reported on the TV stations.

It sound almost as if you don't like the fact that the internet can contain tons of different opinions and useful educational material.

Just look at the government manuals, they are outdated by 20 years, the latest information is always available on the internet.

The latest disinformation and misinformation is also available on the internet. You can literally find "evidence" for any view you care to put forth if you search hard enough.

For example this guy created a fake news website complete with disclaimers at the bottom stating it wasn't real, and still plenty of people believed it.

I'm not saying the internet is a bad thing, any more than TV is a bad thing. They are both just mediums... and stupidity can flow through any medium.

I understand what you are saying. But the disinformation on the internet literally can't be worse than on the TV.

Simply because you can add your own view of the things without facing censorship (at least on places like Steemit and free blogs, not like Facebook where they censor everything).

So if the amount of disinformation on TV is X, then the amount of disinformation on the internet is Y, where Y<X because the truth will not be censored.

It's one thing to bury the truth under a mountain of disinformation, and it's another thing to not let it being published at all.

The instrument of tyranny that has caused the most damage in the history of mankind.

Altruism.

What do you mean by that?

Altruism is the invention to which all of the tools of horror are applied. "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." This is the worst invention in human history.

I would have to say the worst, most deadly, and dangerous thing invented by humans is....... Government!!!

True , but I was referring to technological inventions.

Gotcha. I would have to say the worst technology ever invented by humans is Crispr-9 then. Or just genetic modification in general. DNA pollution. =)

How about the reserve banking system?

Banks definitely catogorizes under one of the worst ideas ever.

I agree, It is almost 'funny' how western people always judge about the population in other countries to be brainwashed and stupid compare to them. But after I started traveling and met people from all over the world I remarked how narrow the western view is and that they only know the world from what they have seen on tv.

The countries that do the most evil things , but are also the most politically open, have the most advanced propaganda machine. Like most of the western world.

If you live in some middle eastern tyranny, the government might do evil things, but the population doesnt have to be brainwashed because the king already has absolute power.

But if you live in the west where voting does have some minor influence on the government, then the government must spend your tax money against you, in order to condition and brainwash you into their agenda.

Thats a good point, and also the westen media has the global power by owning hollywood and international channels. Its obvious how many hollywood movies end with a happy end because the FBI, CIA or US army saves the story (This will give people the under conscious feeling that they are protectors of the world). This global westen media can decide what words like freedom, good, bad ect. means for the people.

I am sick of cop shows, if not for my fiancee, I would have thrown out the TV straight into the garbage bin. I only read the local newspaper which is reasonable, just to know what happened in the region.

I have thrown it out for over 10 years! The best easy thing you can consider to do for the whole family.

I highly recommend the book 'Amusing Ourselves to Death' by Neil Postman.

In it, he details how public discourse in America was completely undone by the advent of television, and specifically a visual media over a written/spoken media.

Images cannot replace true dialogue, discussion, and debate. Yet, that is exactly what has happened in the age of television!

The Soviet Union mastered the art of propaganda using mass broadcasting platforms. The US wasn't that far either.

I might even put mobile phones and social media here, but I don't because there you have a choice. The TV is pretty much just download nonsense, and no way to interact with it.

Nice argument.
I love your contrast between the courage of the Brits of WWII and those of today...
Sadly, though the people were more courageous then, even that war was contrived and manipulated.
😄😇😄

@creatr

Not just that but even elsewhere, all you ever hear about in the news are car accidents, homicides, or other tragedies. They only cover bad news.

Intentionally to keep people in fear. This is the psychological effect they are getting.
