Propaganda in the MediasteemCreated with Sketch.

Yesterday I did something that I really don't like to do. I have watched the afternoon news broadcast, on my local TV station. I really don't like to watch TV, and above all, I just despise watching the news. It's really irritating how much propaganda you can fit into a 15 minutes block.

I wasn't really watching it to inform myself, I rather read a newspaper for that, I was just watching it, to test my spotting skills, and to observe how they present the propaganda to us. I am sure this can be generalized across all news channels, it's almost as if it's a systematic propaganda operation, worldwide. Although they didn't quite use North Korean style news broadcasting, it wasn't that far from it either. So even just in your average news broadcast, you can find tons of propaganda.

Let's see what I have observed/found:

1) Bad News

They always present bad news. Never ever ever ever ever they present any good news. Why? Aren't there any good news out there? Of course there are. But they don't care. They always present bad news. And I am not living in a very high crime-rate place, but still they only report the crimes.

So the news segment usually talks about 2 things: Politics & Car accidents / Murders (if there was any, say at national level). That's all they talk about, what outrageous thing politician X has said, and how many car accidents / similar bad events have happened.

2) Hypnotic Voice

Every single time you put up an anchor there, whether he is an older guy, or a well known reporter that likes to smile and talk happily. Doesn't matter, they always tell the news in a low pitch, hypnotic voice, to make it sound very very serious.

So if we go with the example above and "Politician X has said something outrageous", that should be a very very very serious news, and everyone should be shocked about it.

So the fact that we are paying 90% income tax, and the national debt is 100% or 200%, that is not serious at all, and they don't even report that. But if some politician says something outrageous, then everybody should be shocked about that.

3) Key Words

They always like to use keywords such as: "the authorities" , "the criminals" , "the representatives" , "legislative body" , "common good". Almost as if you took these keywords out of a Stalinist propaganda manual.

The mere fact that they use the word "authority" so assertively, means that they imply that they have authority by default, it's not even questionable, and they have the right to decide who is a "criminal" and who is not.

It's pretty much Orwellian.

4) No Call-ins / No opinions

I guess in the past they had reporters in the field surveying people and asking them what they thought about certain things. You don't see that anymore.

Also it's pretty strange that they don't have call-ins. I mean if there is some car accident somewhere, why not call in the witnesses and ask them what happened. It might not be an objective news, but it would certainly be interesting to hear other's opinions.

And of course in political issues, why not call in citizens and hear what their opinion is about politicians. Isn't this a democracy after all? Where is exactly the voice of the people?

5) Government Narrative

Same as above, whenever there is a traffic accident, they only ask the spokesperson of the local police, or if there is some political turmoil, they will have local representatives on the TV.

But they never ever ever put ordinary citizens on, have a call-in show, where people can tell their grievances. Nope, you can't have that in a democracy, can you?

So this is what I have observed. And I don't care in what country you live, just watch the news and see for yourself these same patterns. I bet your local news-station does the exact same things mentioned above.

So this means that news reporting is not about objectively telling you what happened, but a 1 sided deal, where they ask the government, or they pick the stories themselves to fit a certain narrative, while being silent on other stories.

I have never ever heard any news-station talk about high taxes, high debt, fractional reserve banking, ponzi scheme nature of the pension system, etc.... Nope they never touch subjects like that. They just go with the bullshit stories.

And combining that hypnotic voice + the bad news, it's almost as if they are trying to keep you in perpetual fear. I mean every time I hear the news guy speak I get chills, it's literally scary as they say things. So fear is the first emotion that you get when listening to it.

So this is a Stalinistic, Orwellian level brainwashing operation in my opinion. Orwell couldn't have dreamed it better. The modern news broadcasting is nothing more than pure propaganda and psychological manipulation.

Great article man thanks, i followed you. Fuck the propoganda machine.

I agree completely! I only watch the news to stay updated on the newest propaganda efforts. I can't believe most people are buying the fake "Russia hacked the election" narrative the media is now pushing for the corporate elite.

They don't know any better, they've been fed propaganda their whole lives.

A good skill to be able to separate the the watching from the watcher. Nice post, resteemed.

dude... sure you're okay? Don't do this again, please x'D

good post buddy! cheers

If peace suddenly broke out and the (corrupt) news media was forced to report it, what would the military industrial complex do with all its toys and trillions in black budget money? Conduct an endless series of war games?

Keep it in case an alien invasion happens. However there should be no war on Earth.
