Preface

Hi, am princekelly. And am back with another article and this time I will be focusing on the platform Steemit.com, which has given me the opportunity to make excellent stuff and earn in the process.
I will be discussing the creation steps involved in creating a Steem account. I see it as an essential topic for the growth of the whole Steem community. In this first episode, I will be explaining what it means to create and own an account on the Steem blockchain, and list various options now available for creating a steemit blog account. I will also be comparing the creation of accounts on steemit with other social sites like Medium, Whaleshare and most importantly a similar site like Weku. In the following episode of this blog series, I will be comparing the various options available for creating a steemit account.

What is Steemit

I will start with the basics, by explaining the platform Steemit briefly, to help readers understand the whole article.
Steemit is a social media platform, giving opportunities for content creators, Investors, Developers, Designers, poets, all talented individuals and all professional discipline to display talent, professional works, and creativity by harnessing the power of the Steem blockchain and getting rewarded for their creativity in the crypto-coin, Steem/SBD. The platform was launched by @ned and @dan in the year 2016.

Why create a Steemit account?

There are various reasons to create a Steemit account, ranging from displaying your works to making extra income. If you are a skilled graphic artist, musical artist, an investor, app developer, and sort of talent or skill, you are welcome to create a Steemit account. To get access to the various communities built on the Steem blockchain to help showcase you to the whole world, meeting unique individuals and earn in the process.

Creating a Steemit account.

It is quite easy to create an account, log on to the main steemit registration platform here. Fill in the necessary information to complete your registration, and wait for the account to be activated.
New and faster ways have been provided to help create your account easily, it's however not free.
I had some sad experiences in creating a Steem account, where I have lost a lot of potential Steemians due to account registration issues. It takes so long to get an account ready and sometimes it fails.
I recently failed in my attempt to register a new account for a talented artist in my area, due to the registration process. I tried registering him for the Steemjet record contest some weeks back, after registration his account hasn’t been activated till this very moment. It was a tough time, and I couldn’t fund the account creation fee at the particular time for his account registration. So I used the free process, hoping to get his account ready in two weeks.
This incident prompted me to look more closely into different account creation tools available for creating a steemit account. Leading to this article to help other steemians, decide on the best options for them at a particular point in time. Discussing this will help increase the number of steem bloggers, and unconsciously promoting the Steem blockchain.
Once you get your steemit account activated, you will have access to various quality platforms on the Steem blockchain. An activated account has access to the following activities; like posting, commenting, voting and earning the crypto Steem/SBD, all via the various platform on the Steem blockchain.

What is a steemit account creation tool?

Steemit account creation tool is an application, or platform developed to help, create a steemit account on the Steem Blockchain. I believe the ease of creating a Steemit account is a substantial factor in the promotion and development of the Steem ecosystem.

Creating a Steemit, Weku, Whaleshare and a Medium account

• Same procedures are involved in the creation of a steemit and weku account, but they differ in times of creation time.
  As of the time of writing this article, it takes less than an hour to get your weku account activated. While, it takes between 24 hours to over two weeks in activating your steemit account, for free.
  Weku is a new blogging site similar to steemit, which rewards its users with the crypto Weku/WKD. Weku only has free account setup option for now, unlike steemit with the free and paid account setup options. I guess the activation time for a Weku account is fast, due to the site being just over three months old, compared to steemit with over two years of activities.
• To create a Whaleshare account, I signup up through the free version in the whaleshares official signup page. I waited for weeks and didn’t get activated until I used the paid version here. This signup process required the payment of 200 whaleshares or 1 Signupwls.
• It’s effortless to create a medium account; you can either register via your Facebook account or email and get instant access to posting articles and get rewards.

• The whole steem ecosystem will benefit from more investors and creators, from each account creation tools.

• Free account creation tool takes between 24 to two weeks, to activate a steemit account. And sometimes take forever as I noted earlier in this article.

As you can observe from the two graphical representation above, numbers of created accounts in 2017, has significantly increased in 2018. This increase can be attributed to faster means of registration.

Now, looking at the above data. We can see the highest number of registrations occurred between the 21st to the 25th week in 2017. While, in 2018, the highest number of registration happened between the 10th and 13th week.

Below, we have the statistics of registered users in 2017, showing an increase in the of accounts through paid tools.

Now, in 2018. The number of registered users via other paid creation tools have increased.

Looking at these two data above, we can deduce that a significant increase in the percentage of active users in 2018, than in 2017. The steem blockchain needs active users, bringing in their quality contents.

The new account creation tool from Steemit inc

The introduction of RC Mana from the hardfork 20, has made it possible to create accounts from Manas. This new development will revolutionize the whole steem blockchain, giving people the tool to create accounts from discontinued accounts. It will reduce the cost of creating accounts immensely, and increase the influx of new steemians. Now with RC Mana and some Steem power (delegated or owned), users can use their RC Mana to create new accounts from discontinued accounts.

Pros and cons of creating accounts using Rc Mana

• The cost of creating accounts is relatively high when compared to other activities, like posting, voting, which uses Mana.
• Limit to the number of accounts an individual can create in a day, due to limited RC Mana.
• This will enable the proper utilization of discontinued accounts, in the steem blockchain.
• It has given D’apps the opportunity of creating accounts easily, which allows them to bring more users into the steem blockchain via their interface.
• It will significantly reduce the number of discontinued accounts in the steem blockchain, which will, in turn, increase the value of Steem/SBD.
• It will improve the accessibility of users to the steem blockchain.
• The long waiting period for a steem account is over, for lovers of D’apps like Utopian, Steemhunt, Steemgigs, etc.

Conclusion

1. I registered on steemit around August 2017, when a friend introduced me to this great platform. I was amazed how I could earn, for just writing and joined. It took less than 48 hours to get an activation link when I registered through the steemit frontend. Today, we have a lot of medium available to help users access the steem blockchain. I call this, growth and evolution of the steem blockchain.

2. Users have to compare and select one of the two options available in creating a steemit account. Either to pay for instant access or, register for free. Free registration takes between 24 hours to two weeks before access. If paying is fair enough or they can wait for the free account activation.
   I have been able to pass across my view on the topic today, and in the next episode, help users determine the right option for them.
