I greet you all according to your time, I want to start by commending the Steem Cameroon team for always organizing creative and educative contests for us. This week's contest is a fulfilled and challenging one, as it requires both photography and drawing.
I love art, and today, I will be sharing my drawing skills with my Steemit friends in this contest.

Right from my nursery school days, I was made to understand that drawing is the act of creating a pictorial representation of anything on a surface using pencil📝, chalk, ink, pen🖊️, and charcoal, amongst others.

We were usually asked to draw common objects and items we use and see every day like cups, spoons, boxes, plates, shirts, and many more. The artist chooses to primarily express his/her inward views depending on their skills, interest, and audience.

A good artist who wants the best out of his/her work will always give it quality attention by allocating a good amount of their daily time to it. Constant practice and exploration will equally bring out the best artist in you.

The picture above is the academic's departmental building of Computer Science, Afikpo Ebonyi state, Nigeria 🇳🇬. This is the side view of my departmental building in school, where I learn and conduct practicals related to my course of study(Computer Science).

The reason why I decided to draw this particular picture is that I love and appreciate what I learn here daily. Although we are currently on strike due to the current salary negotiation issues between Nigerian schools and the federal government. Nevertheless, some students are still around the school vicinities and am one of such students.

I was going to an evening tutorial class organized by a fellow student to help other students with challenging departmental topics, then I remembered this contest and decided to take this picture for my participation.

Although am not all that good at drawing, I still decided to try my best to know if the artist in me is still alive, because it's been a while since I drew something on a surface.
I brought my drawing materials which included a pen, pencils erasers, and crayons. Slowly and carefully, I dedicated a good amount of my time to sketching and outlining the shape of the picture I wanted to draw.

It all ended in joy when I saw that my drawing was attractive😁, I never thought I could improve in my drawing because I don't usually give quality attention to the artist in me.
This will surely boost my level of confidence as I now believe that the artist in me is still alive.

Wow😮, it will be interesting and exciting to be drawn by someone else, as it will allow me to see how I will look if I was designed by a human hand. I could remember how happy and excited I was when someone made a cartoon version of me using an app, as it allowed me to see how I would look if I were a cartoon.

To be sincere, I had lots of challenges drawing this, I think it's because I hadn't been drawing for a while now. I made lots of sketches and mistakes before finally getting the outline I desired.

The major area of this sketch that gave me the highest challenge was the Balcony. I was trying to get the lines correct, but it wasn't that easy. All the same, I am happy that it all turned out beautiful. I have now learned to trust the process to success, even if it seems impossible to achieve.

As the saying goes "learning never ends" and "practice makes perfect" which means I would love to continue with my newfound talent. Like I said earlier I never taught I could do so well, but after finishing my drawing I was happy with the result. If I continue like this, I might just become so good at drawing which wouldn't be a bad idea.
Hopefully, I will try my best to create time for drawing for me to improve.

I won't say I did a 10/10 work but at least an 8.8/10 rating is deserving for my work, as am still learning to draw.

If "everything at my disposal" includes super creativity and talent in drawing what others love, then I would not mind taking it as a profession. Talent can't necessarily be compared to hard work, nevertheless, talent plus hard work is equal to excellence and productivity.
Blessed is a talented man, but happier is the man who takes talent as a career.

If I must say the truth, these exercise has helped build my confidence, not only in drawing but also in other aspects of life.
I remember initially telling myself that I won't be able to participate in this contest because I don't have sufficient knowledge in drawing, but I then saw a motivational comment from @steem-cameroon telling us to just do our best rather than overthinking it.

As you can see I tried my best, and am impressed with my work. I have learned never to give up on anything in life because the future might just be far brighter than our imaginations.

Conclusion

Art is beautiful, and I believe in one way or the other, every one of us has drawn something on a surface before, which means all of us are artists, but some people are just more talented and creative than others. An artist can improve with consistency and dedication.
