Tomb Raider: Underworld - Lara Croft searching for her missing mother

I decided to play all the Tomb Raider games from the latest to the oldest. I recently finished Tomb Raider: Underworld, and now I will introduce it to you by my noob-player perspective.

Plot

Lara's goal this time is to find Avalon to find out what caused the disappearance of her mother. During her journey, she enters several tombs dedicated to the Nordic mythology. Specifically, Thor. To get to Avalon, she has to collect Thor's gauntlets, belt and also the hammer itself and she is even forced to cooperate with her enemy from the previous game - Natla.

Fights

Compared to new Tomb Raider games, Underworld lacks the possibility of stealth kills, but thanks to the automatic targeting of enemies I didn't miss it. I can't imagine shooting bats and other moving targets without this feature. In most cases, you just need to be in some elevated position and shoot enemies from above. Also, hard boss fights are missing in the game, and after getting a hammer, you can kill enemies with just one shot, and three shots are enough to kill a troll.

Weapons have infinite ammo, so you don't have to collect it, and before each new level, you can choose secondary gun according to your taste. But most of the time I shot only from the pistols. Also, you have sticky grenades that will make it even easier for you to destroy a horde of enemies.

What did I like most about the fight? To kill the thrall, you must break it by jumping on it. Otherwise, it would revive. I really enjoyed jumping on them.

First-aid kits are all over the map, and there are a lot of them (I played on the normal difficulty). Sometimes you just don't think it's a first-aid kit. You just pick up some grails occasionally, which you don't know what they are for, and later you find out that it is first-aid. I almost didn't need them during the fight. I used them to recover health after falling mostly.

Enemies and predators

Lara, during her journey, encounters a lot of enemies to be killed like:

• Bats.
• Lizards.
• Felines.
• Humans.
• Little spiders.
• Big spiders.
• Sharks.
• Giant octopus.
• Thrall soilders.
• Thrall trolls.
• Thrall panthers.

Lara's outfits

In Tomb Raider: Underworld you can play with a different outfit in each level. You will always get 2 to 3 outfits at the beginning from which you can pick one. In the first water level, Lara has one-piece long-sleeved swimsuit barely covering her butt. Well, in my opinion, let man look at everything or nothing. As a girl, I like Lara adequately dressed so she didn't catch a cold, but I understand that the men like her almost naked.

Sonar

What is the thing doing? I used it about two times (tutorial and then just for fun). It will show you close spaces, but I don't understand its purpose. If it's supposed to be something like a hint, then it is for nothing.

Motorbike

The most significant innovation is that Lara must ride a motorbike in some levels. I didn't know it, so I left the bike somewhere because even on a motorcycle you encountered some artifacts to collect on the road, so I must go back for it. Notwithstanding the fact that I don't like racing games, so it was tough for me. Especially when in one phase you have to get to the tomb in time, otherwise the entrance closes.

Gameplay

In the final, I have to say that because of the missing survival instinct feature, solving the puzzles and finding the right path is a bigger challenge. I was stuck about three times, so I got some hint on the internet, and then I noticed that I would have solved it even without it. I just didn't think of the possibility at that moment, or the motorbike was far away, or I missed the tutorial.
I was angry only at the time when you need to jump somewhere, and Lara jumps elsewhere and kills herself. Dumb girl.
