Godaphro: Fearsome Critter

in #folklore7 years ago

The Godaphro is a fearsome critter of lumberjack folklore that has a different appearance, based on the origin of the story. Some said the Goadphro resembles a small deer with rabbit ears. Others say the Godaphro is a large reptilian creature. Both stories state that the animal has a set of giant fangs and uneven legs. Because the creature has uneven legs, it is well suited to hills and mountains.

Like many of the fearsome critters, the Godaphro is an apt climber. Equipped with a strong and long tail, it enjoys wrapping the tail around branches and swinging from trees, somewhat like a monkey.

One tall tale from a farmer says that he was able to successfully breed the Godaphro with his sheep, producing a superior type of sheep, that easily walked the hilly terrain of his farm. In the early 1900s, circus masters would claim to have a Godaphro in their ranks, but could only ever produce an empty cage, always claiming the creature ran away.

The monkey like tail is a handy trait. But the uneven legs would be quite cumbersome. That would mean that it couldn't go onto flat land and would always have to face the same direction on a hill. This is a hilarious creature hahaha love it
