📌 Quick video on how to really understand Steemit before passing judgment

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Steemit is complicated at first and a healthy skepticism is healthy. Regardless of your background, we're all starting from zero here, just like we did with bitcoin and every other new and complicated technology. I've been here for three months so I'm comfortable with it and have a good overall understanding now but I sure as heck didn't start out like that. A fellow Fort Galt member, @onceuponatime, introduced me to Steemit a few months ago, before anyone had received any payouts. It took me a while to stumble around, experiment, read, ask questions, and ponder my way to where I am now. Everyone likes to appear clever and wise but we have all had to come to terms with our initial ignorance here and embrace the learning process. I try to offer as much help as I can to speed it up for you but ultimately, there's just no substitute for calm and patient study. Not to worry though. When you're motivated as much as you are here, it won't be long before you're up to speed and caught up with the veterans.

This video's great! We really need some more stuff similar to your work of breaking down Steemit's complexities into simple language for the average Joe to understand. I'm new here, but I've tried to recruit others to join and it's difficult because they always make the worst assumptions. Thanks for your contribution!

Fantastic! Yeah, I like to think that my videos are a good place for people to get started so spread 'em around and let me know if there's a topic you'd like me to cover in the future :)

Will do! I definitely need to check out all your posts, since this post is the first I've seen and watch your videos. Will do that when I have some free time, most likely commenting and upvoting along the way. Kudos to you!

I have steem power, steem dollars and steem, my mouse slipped when I was editing a new story and hitting the back bu!tton did not work.
I've cleared my browser cache, it's not me.

Clicking on Submit Story Causes a Brief Flash

The page doesn't change, just the url in the top window. Hitting refresh makes the page change, to a 'loading' notice and an endlessly spinning avatar icon.

Help? @Support !??

Anyone?

Sounds like you might have a bad connection? Mine does the spinny avatar thing if something else is hogging my bandwidth.

Appreciate the suggestion, it's not a bad connection.
All other pages work fine, submit.html will not load, even while other steemit pages are loading at the same time, in other windows.

@thecleangame Wow, that's freaking weird. I have no idea why that page won't load for you. Visit steemit.chat and let them know about it in the Help channel.

"Calm" now that is something we need more of, at least a rational form of calm. Unlike some people who grew up in western Canada Gabriel is bringing respect and rational thought to the cryptocurrency world. If Steem and Steemit burn to the ground then at least it gave the world a platform to discover Gabriel. He does not just jump into something and start pumping away at it, he calmly talks about it and explains his view and if you don't like it you are free to do something different. This guy has a bright future in the cryptocurrency world and he continues to do sane, honest, and rational videos/projects that will strengthen his reputation over time. He could easily blindly promote things and hope people don't remember such brashness and questionable behavior in a few years, but instead he takes the slow/steady/calm approach. We need more guys born in western Canada like him.

lol subtle. :)
Seriously, thanks though. It means a lot.

It appears that your internal makeup is the complete opposite of the person I alluded to. That is a very good thing! It is also funny/odd that both of you are originally from Western Canada. It must be the Shemitah! Yes the Shemitah explains it all! Prepare for the end of the world in October, but make sure you subscribe to the paid newsletter in 2017...

Aside from the White Paper, there are some excellent beginners guides on the site here... like this and this ..

Absolutely! Thanks Condra :)

This totally resonates with me. I came in as a total skeptic until I read the whitepapers. Then the lightbulb went off and I was like HOLY COW transparency, investment opportunity...longevity? I can only hope for the best and keep on writing, but I'm a Steem-eliever.

Welcome aboard then!

Great video! & thanks for educating the masses with all of your hard work ...This will only grow the steemit community faster into the mainstream!!! Keep going piedpiper:)

Thanks! Boosting adoption is our primary goal here. The more you are invested, the more you care about the health of the platform and everyone coming into it. :)

Why is the latest piece of pump aka this article is not generating the usual stupendous amount of cash as they once-upon-a-time did?

Awesome video. Very true. It is a confusing place when you first stumble into it.

For pretty much everyone, yeah.

This is epic @piedpiper i love how you break it down into a language i actually understand xD

Glad you find it useful, Warren!

Wise thoughts. I shared this post to legacy social media. ;D

Ah, very nice. Thanks :)

It really is true. Can have all the desire for success you want, really comes down to earning it and putting in the time
