[RESTAURANT REVIEW] Dining by the harbour...Sydney style!
Good evening fellow Steemians!
I was on a bit of a hiatus care of work getting a bit crazy but I love the Steemit community and couldn't stay away too long. Will definitely be around here a bit more now so keep an eye out :)
Today I'll be taking you guys on a food adventure I recently went on for a dear friend's birthday.
OYSTERS - who doesn't love oysters. Perfect start to any meal...
The location was a restaurant near the harbour in Sydney and we got there early so the restaurant was perfect for taking a few 'ambience' shots...
Outfit is pretty on-trend right now which is minimalistic, Scandinavian with furniture (both tables and chairs) that have a small foot-print. Very clean and modern looking.
Our view from the table...
I was also first so we had some time to chill at our table :)
After the oysters we had the special for the day of scallops, shaved truffle and think it was a celeriac-type puree on the bottom. Scallops were nicely cooked.
Next was a bit of an homage to my childhood where I used to put in about 12 frozen fish fingers into the oven straight after school! These were a bit more fancy...Cirrus Fish Fingers + Salted Cucumbers + Preserved Lemon. (HOW CUTE are they sitting in a little serviette blanket!!)
Bit of salad thrown in here..Cos Lettuce + Whipped Roe + Ortiz Anchovy + Cured Yolk. This was interesting, the freshness of the cos lettuce was a good contrast (needed!) vs the fish fingers and richness of the scallop.
Next was a pretty delicate dish, Grilled Cuttlefish + Black Sesame + Carrot. This dish was a little bit average but I can't fault the restaurant for presentation. This dish could have done with a bit more flavour.
Onto the mains!!
First up, Whole Baby Kingfish + Sorrel + Smoked Bone Marrow
The fish was cooked nicely but again I felt it looked a bit of flavour. Couldn't taste the bone marrow so not sure where it was, probably could've been a bit more generous with that!
Can't go past a steak...
This was a good steak, cooked medium rare (my preference). It was juicy, well-rested, tender. Not the best steak I've had but it hit the spot!
Side of Chips + Aioli and also a salad of Coal Roasted Celeriac + Toasted Walnut + Brown Butter
Overall I'd give this place a 7/10. The food was good, nothing wrong with it at all but I just really feel it lacked any real flavour or depth. The quality of the produce was fresh but I just really wish it had a bit more flavour. The best was probably the steak but there are other places in Sydney better for that!
Let me know if you enjoyed this review and what your favourite cuisine is! Suggestions for the next 'cuisine' to review are greatly appreciated - happy to eat so you guys can live vicariously through me!

Good Luck!
A resteeming bot - this is new...not sure why I'm replying but anyway! ;)
You replied, so that I could notice you and wish you to have a great day. :D
Have a great day.
The presentation is very nice. It’s breakfast time here, and, now, I find myself hungry! Thanks for sharing this very detailed review.
Would you say that the price to quality was on par? I have to say that sometimes the high end restaurants can be quite disappointing. I have had some of the best dishes from a hole in the wall.
You're most welcome! I'm happy to share all my food adventures with anyone interested enough to stop by :)
Hmm, I would say the price outstripped the quality in this particular restaurant unfortunately. I have to agree with you that most of the food in high-end restaurants shouldn't command the price they do (EXCEPT for one restaurant which is my absolute favourite in Sydney).
I agree also that some of the best restaurants are holes in the wall! Luckily we have plenty of those in Sydney so the journey continues...thanks for stopping by and commenting!
And what is the Sydney favorite? Or will this be a future post?
Haha...keep an eye out on my blog and you'll find out! Might even post it in the next few days 🤗
Looking forward to it!
