After weeks of direct confrontation with Sentinel Services, this week focuses more on personal convictions, and how far people will go to get what they really want.

Following last week's cliffhanger, Marcos is called by Carmen, his old flame and current leader of the Cartel to collect on their deal. Although reluctant, he agrees and leaves the mutant underground headquarters on the guise of going to get supplies. Carmen is going up against the Russians and wants to teach them a lesson by burning up their new shipment of drugs --something Marcos and his solar-like abilities are perfectly suited for. Sentinel Services officer Jace Turner, still feeling extremely vengeful towards the mutant underground, also has to make good on his deal with Dr. Campbell. Now in essence directing the operation, Campbell insists that it is time to bring in his mutant assets to bear. However, before they can go any further, the D.O.J arrives and demands they put an end to the entire operation as they have gone so far off correct legal methods as to officially impinge on people's rights. Jace insists the mutant underground are terrorists and promises to fight back against her injunction in every way he can.

Marcos ends up going with Carmen, and Jace with Campbell. And both men have to face their deepest convictions. When Marcos begins burning the drugs, it's easy to see on his face the shadow of the old Marcos who really enjoyed this, and why neither Thunderbird nor Lorna wants him anywhere near that old life again. Then Lorna finds out he lied to them and tracks him down, and discovers the mission. But she is less angry about the mission itself than about Marcos lying directly to her, and storms away from him. Jace witnesses one of Campbell's mutants cause a stroke in the D.O.J when next she comes to their offices, but is forced to turn a blind eye. And although he is really doubtful of the method, he agrees to place Campbell's mutants --which are quite a number --into the field.

Meanwhile, Reed Strucker is going through some conviction-changes of his own. While he and Sage go through the hard drives they recovered last week, he comes across a file on Wes, Lauren's new crush, and discovers they boy has a criminal past which he hasn't shared with the underground. He becomes livid at once and shows it to his wife. But Caitlin doesn't share his deep worries... instead she is worried about what the children have gone through already and tells him not to do anything rash, and to talk to Lauren rather than confront Wes himself. However he ends up confronting Lauren and she doesn't take it well, becoming very angry at him and storming out. But then she talks to Wes and he confirms that it's true and tries to apologise, which only serves to make her mad at him also, accusing him of being fake and warning him to stay away.
Lauren still won't talk to Reed though, and he doesn't know what to do. Being a prosecutor, he has firmly believed for so long that every crime must be punished, and his instincts are to ensure that. Caitlin advises him to not be the prosecutor but the dad, and so he goes to talk to Wes, telling him it's better they hear the truth from him. Wes follows his advise and gets granted pardon, but the underground needed persons to go on a far mission and he was drafted.

Away from them, John/Thunderbird goes to find Clarice and bring her back to the underground. He tracks her down and helps her trace her past to the house she grew up. On getting there, they find that Sentinel Services has raided it and killed the caretakers, although it seems the other mutants might have escaped. Clarice is pissed and decides to return to the Underground Headquarters and join the fight.

That seems a very informative review. I am not a fan of TV shows but I still enjoyed your obvious command of the story retelling. Good stuff.

Thanks Mr. Akpan! And thanks for reading. :)
