Marketing Steem - My Personal Marketing Plan to grow Steem

in #steem5 years ago

A few days ago I wrote about the need to market to Steem.

Go big, or go home. That's what they say isn't it?

Steem needs to expand in numbers, and STEEM needs to expand in price.

Few will disagree on that.

Steem has no marketing department, but we have 40,000 marketeers all around us. We are they.

We can all play our part to promote Steem, to grow the platform, to increase the price.

We should each have our own little marketing plan.

My Personal Marketing Plan

In my previous post about marketing Steem I highlighted four possible marketing targets...

1. Games & Contests
2. Niche Communities
3. The Dispossessed
4. Steem in the Community

Alas I don't have the resources to pick up on all four of these. But on two of these I want to push forward. As much as I can.

Niche Communities - ALT.Life

This is where I started on Steem. And this is where I want to go on Steem.

I strongly believe Steem is a perfect fit for many in what the outside world will term the 'alternative lifestyle sectors' - the homesteaders, the preppers, the homeschoolers and unschoolers, the vegans and the vegetarians, the natural medicine users...

In short those with an open mind and an alternative view about the world we live in.

We already have some vibrant 'ALT.Life' communities active and growing on Steem including the Homesteaders Co-op, Vegans of Steemit, Canna-Curate, Natural Medicine and @tribesteemup.

My new ALT.Life MSP Waves show is providing a platform to give a little extra visibility and expression on Steem.

I want to work with all these communities to consolidate and expand what we can offer collectively to attract in more 'alternative lifestylers' to Steem.

This is still early days in the planning but I am at looking using social media, advertising, content creation, PR, promotional articles, podcasts, and if all goes well maybe even events.

The @altlife account will be my focus for this activity - follow along if you want to see where this journey takes us.

Steem in the Community

I have been a community activist all 40 years of my adult life.

I have co-ordinated environmental campaign groups, I have been a director of several charity and campaign organisations, I have organised food festivals, I have run a community cinema, I have set up a town loyalty scheme...

Since my Day Zero on the platform I have been looking at opportunities to take Steem into the community.

The potential has always been great but the time has never quite been right.

Now the forces are massing and the stars are aligning. The resources are coming together and the opportunities are arising.

I will be looking to connect and assist with meetups, and with community focused steem events around the world.

@shanibeer and @lloyddavis are organising a meetup in April which will be a great place to start in Britain.

I will be revisiting and reinvigorating the @steemwales and @steemclub-uk account activities.

A Dollar A Day will be working with Fundition on a new community funding program that will be launching very shortly. I will be at the helm of that.

I want to significantly grow the visibility of Steem, and demonstrate its usefulness and its purpose in local communities around world.

The @communityaction account will be my focus for this activity. If you want to find out more about taking steem into your community follow this account.

I will not be abandoning the other two marketing targets - Games & Contests and the Dispossessed.

The GAME Show will be continuing, and I will continue with the Contests Roundups but for now I won't be able to do much more on this front. I hope others will be able to pick this up and push it forward.

Targeting the 'Dispossessed' - those banned on other platforms - will need careful planning but should yield good results. UK political activist @tommyrobinson has just arrived on steem. There are many others who have also been ejected from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc who should find a suitable home on Steem. Maybe @informationwar, @deepdives, @v4vapid, @gregorypatrick, @truthforce and others might be able to co-ordinate a project to identify and welcome in these deplatformed folk?

So this is my plan. My Personal Marketing Plan.

Have you got a PMP?

You do like to keep busy on here. Hadn't heard about Tommy Robinson. Don't agree with him on a lot of subjects but he should be free to talk about it. Could bring a lot of people with him.

That will be the issue with aiming for those being banned on other platforms.

Not everyone on Steem may agree with their views, but I do believe everyone on Steem will agree that they should be allowed to have those views and express them freely.

I'm from a place that he would not do well in but I've always had the opinion that there are two sides to any story. So with that in mind in I am always willing to listen to either side of a story.

A lot of my opinions wouldn't go down well today or be appreciated in the pc world that we now live in so I can appreciate when people speak against the tide. We are all entitled to be different as long as it isn't doing any harm to others. That's a tough line to keep especially for some of the more outspoken people. There is a fine line between speaking your mind and hate speech. Not easy.

Agreed, there might always be thin ice to skate on...

Great ideas and plan moving forward. I will put some thoughts down for my account PMP soon. #steem #steempmp Resteemed

Thank you John. I will look forward to seeing your PMP.

I think we should try sending influencers messages that are hard to miss, i.e a small patreon donation /w an offer to setup shop in Steem.
I think Tim Pool should be fairly easy to pursade, he is strongly against censorship, but decided to be active on Minds, out of all places...

If anyone wants to send a message alongside a donation, tag me in your post, and I'll offset some/all of the cost /w my upvote

Yes, that would be a good tactic.

The whole area of pursuing creators who are being banned and deplatformed on other social media could definitely be fruitful for Steem is in one of my original four marketing targets. Alas I can't manage to work on so many fronts at the same time.

I would love see a team or project on steem to pick this up in a coordinated way.

You have been doing some work on Facebook to attract people to steem haven't you? Who were you main targets there?

About that... I've created this server to coordinate pro-steem engagement on other social media. But it didn't quite catch on.
If anyone wants to take the reins and try to bring anti-deplatforming celebs to Steem, I can give them full admin privileges on it, and help with upvotes to fund paid messages and such.

Hopefully someone will step forward to lead on this.

Incredible the amount of initiatives you have helped get off the ground and also get a following for so I appreciate your efforts as you continue to create value for the ecosystem! I haven’t really considered a PMP but will think about it as being purposeful does help to gain momentum. My focus will probably continue to be on introduction curation which I enjoy the most.

We are all marketeers on Steem!

Or at least those that want to be.

Any promotion of Steem in any size, shape or flavour will help us grow.

You are doing a great job @pennsif to grow steem community

Very kind of you, thank you

You forgot to mention the flat-earth community ;)

I try to keep a safe distance from that one ... in case I fall off the edge.
