Plagiarism is presenting someone’s ideas or work as yours with or without there consent
Plagiarism is a crime that is considered misdemeanor and punishable
Plagiarism is also considered a felony under certain states and federal laws
WHAT ARE THE BEST WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
- Cite your sources scrupulous
- Be 100% scrupulous in your note taking
- Understand good paraphrasing
- Commit to doing your own work
WHAT ARE THE PUNISHMENTS OF PLAGIARISM
- It can lead to one year in jail
- Expulsion from school for students caught cheating
- It can also be considered felony under certain states and federal laws
WHO IS AFFECTED BY PLAGIARISM
- Plagiarism allegations can cause students to be expelled or suspended from school
2.Their academic record can reflect the ethics offense causing the students to be barred from entering school - Schools , universities and colleges take plagiarism as a serious crime
WHY IS PLAGIARISM A SERIOUS OFFENSE
Copying someone’s ideas without his or her permission is plagiarism
Plagiarism is a serious offense because it erodes public trust in information
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
1.Accidental plagiarism
2.Direct plagiarism
3.Self plagiarism
4.Mosaic plagiarism
DIRECT PLAGIARISM
This involves adopting parts from the writing of another writer without proper mentions of the source and the person copying most times does not even change a single word
SELF PLAGIARISM
This is one of the common types of plagiarism
where students copy and paste part of there previously submitted academic paper
ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
This involves when the plagiarists misquotes the phrases of the text she has taken from the source material
