Hello Steemit community

My name is Patricia. I write from a valley at the foot of the Andes, Barreal, Calingasta, San Juan, Argentina. This is a valley where I live, impregnated with old trees that I call my "Apu" (sacred space).

I have 58 physical years although my mind and spirit do not want to leave my forties! Some of you have heard of me. I am @tincho's mother and if you give me the chance and have patience I will learn to walk on the platform and to connect through this new mode of communication.

I tell you a little of my life.

For more than 35 years I have performed the role of Speech Therapist (Logopeda in other countries), within the areas of my profession I would define myself as "Language Therapist". I love my work, I love the children to whom I dedicate myself, I love words and that suprastructure that is language. Specifically I am dedicated to the problems of reading and writing.

Language is like the paintings of the Sistine Chapel, a wonderful dome supported by enormous pillars: intelligence, thought, movements, affective life, senses, etc.

Specifically, life allows me to work with low income communities and children. Many of them live in adobe houses (block material made of mud and straw). Many of them do not even have drinking water and are mostly born to parents who hopefully finished primary school.

They are usually children with low stimulation, who come to the hospital where I work with one, two and three years without learning to read and write. I could tell you about many moments in life that make my soul vibrate but none like seeing a child's eyes open in amazement when one shows them that they have just read! It's priceless! For them it is worth living!

I'm an atypical aquarian.

I like loneliness. Usually the Aquarian is sociable. I read a lot and investigate. During all these years I was forming and studying on different lines: Systemic, Cognitive Behavioral, Gestalt and Visual Perception among others. This led me to make a synthesis of different treatment methodologies, to create exercises, to encourage me to break structures, not to label and always based on that, with rare exceptions, neural plasticity allows to create new connections, new patterns through which they allow to learn to read and write. The methodology I apply gives a wonderful and effective result.

I tell you an anecdote.

I developed my work in the mountain range and with little connection with the city. One day, a colleague, a sister of life, visits me and tells her about the achievements of the children. When I tell her in detail about the treatment she says to me, textual words, "I do not know this treatment, what's more, I do not think any Speech Therapist uses these techniques." It seemed strange but I continued with my life.

Soon she came back to visit me and said that she had investigated "this form of treatment", rare for her, common to me. She found that in Spain and the USA worked like this. She, in contact with the board of directors of the institution of Speech and Hearing Therapy in San Juan, had organized a meeting so that I could transmit my form of work and show the results that I obtained. So I did and although even now it seems strange, I am giving courses on this methodology that I developed over the years based on the clinic.

I tell you in particular my way of working.

When a child arrives who does not learn to read and write or who already reads but presents dyslexic "type" errors, besides discarding the neurological, I usually see some of the following errors:

• They know the names of the letters but not their sound
• They can say some letters or vowels but they can’t make a syllable.
• In the text it says "le" and the patient reads "el"
• In the text it says "is" and the patient reads "si"
• In the text it says "grasa" and the patient reads "garsa"
• In the text it says "los" and the patient reads "sol"
• In the text it says "rocoso" and the patient reads "rococoso" or "roso"
• It loses the line while reading or repeating what has been read, etc. etc.

The symptomatology is multiple and if they already know how to read the errors are given in both, reading and writing. It is also given in mathematics but I don't want to tire you with so many details.

In summary I investigate Gestalt, laterality in general and specifically of the eye, cross laterality, use of countered hand, visual abilities on all the ocular sweep and the approach. Also, I look at the family system and the internal image of the little one and the family group on him/her..

This determines whether the child is left-handed or right-handed in each of these areas (ear, eye, hand, foot). In most cases, children with difficulty in reading and writing or with dyslexic type errors are patients with predominance of left eye, crossed laterality and contradict hand.

The novelty of the treatment, at least here, in San Juan, is that my exercise mainly reeducates the movement and focus of the eyes when reading or writing. The child who is left-handed has a scan contrary to reading. This mostly creates errors. When I reeducate this, almost all the errors of the reading that I mentioned previously disappear. At the hospital, children come to me who "suffered" learning to read for two and three years, repeating the degree and feeling in hell. School teachers refuse to send them at the beginning. We started to work and in the second or third session they already read words. For the fourth they can read sentences. Parents cry, children stop feeling that they are the worst in the world and in extreme cases, when they were wrongly referred to special education, I take them out and return them to common education. I work with the family and sometimes I go to theirs house. In fact, I work with their mothers because the parents are at work.

There is a disharmony between right and left hemispheres. I work with the right hemisphere. With the gestal, with the phonological awareness, with the beliefs, with the haptic perception among other subjects. At first I eliminate the vision (80% of the learning enters by the vision) and I teach through the touch and the hearing. I use the neurological functions of acquiring the right thing and the extinction of errors. Of course, I fight with the school system and its way of teaching.

I can talk for hours on this subject. There are thousands of more details, imagine that they are about 35 years of research. From now on I make myself available to all the parents of children with difficulty in reading learning. Just tell me this post and I will try to help them without cost and the times that they need it. They must have patience because I will repeat once and a thousand times that where I live, valley of the Andes, I do not have internet in my house. Only in places like restaurants. There are in the hospital but I do not use the network during working hours.

Hola querida comunidad de Steemit.

Mi nombre es Patricia. Les escribo desde un valle a los pies de la Cordillera de los Andes, Barreal, Calingasta, San Juan, Argentina. Este es un valle que habito, impregnado de añosos sauces al que llamo mi “Apu” (espacio sagrado).

Transito mis 58 años físicos aunque mi mente y espíritu no quieren dejar los cuarenta! Algunos de Uds. Ya han escuchado hablar de mí. Soy la mama de @tincho y juro que si me dan la chance y me tienen paciencia iré aprendiendo a caminar en la plataforma y a conectarme a través de este nuevo modo de comunicación.

Les cuento un poco de mi vida.

Hace más de 35 años que desempeño el rol de Fonoaudióloga (Logopeda en otros países), dentro de las áreas de mi profesión me definiría como “Terapeuta del Lenguaje”. Amo mi trabajo, amo los niños a los que me dedico, amo las palabras y esa supraestructura que es el lenguaje. Específicamente me dedico a los trastornos de la lectoescritura.

El lenguaje es como los frescos de la capilla Sixtina, una cúpula maravillosa apoyada en descomunales pilares: la inteligencia, el pensamiento, lo motriz, la vida afectiva, los sentidos, etc.

En concreto la vida me fue llevando a trabajar con comunidades y niños de bajos recursos. Muchos de ellos viven en casas de adobe (material de bloques hechos de barro y paja). No cuentan ni siquiera con agua potable y en su mayoría han nacido de papas que con suerte terminaron una escuela primaria. Son por lo general niños/as con baja estimulación, que llegan al hospital (Hospital Barreal) donde trabajo con uno, dos y tres años sin lograr el aprendizaje de la lectoescritura.

Podría contarles sobre muchas momentos de la vida que hacen vibrar mi alma pero ninguno como ver los ojos de un niño/a abrirse asombrados cuando uno les muestra que acaban de leer! Es impagable! Por estos momentos vale la pena el estar viva!

Soy una acuariana atípica.

Me gusta la soledad. Por lo general el acuariano es sociable. En esta soledad leo mucho e investigo. Durante todos estos años fui formándome y estudiando sobre diferentes líneas: Sistémica, Cognitiva Conductual, Gestalt, Percepción visual entre otros. Esto me llevo a hacer una síntesis de distintas metodologías de tratamiento, crear ejercitaciones, animarme a romper estructuras, no rotular y siempre partir de que , salvo raras excepciones, la plasticidad neuronal permite crear nuevas conexiones, nuevos patrones a través de los cuales se logra aprender a leer y escribir. La metodología que aplico da un resultado maravilloso y efectivo.

Les comento una anécdota.

Desarrollo mi labor metida en la cordillera, aislada, y con poca conexión con la ciudad. Un día me visita una colega, hermana de la vida, a quien le comento los logros que tenían los niños. Cuando le cuento en detalle sobre la forma en que los ayudaba a aprender a leer me dijo que no entendía de que le estaba hablando. Textuales palabras: “Esto que haces no lo conozco, es más, creo que ninguna Fonoaudióloga maneja estas técnicas. Me pareció raro pero seguí con mi vida. Al poco tiempo volvió a visitarme y me comento que había buscado “esta forma de tratamiento”, rara para ella, cotidiana para mí y había encontrado que en España y EEUU se trabajaba así. Ella, en contacto con la comisión directiva del Colegio de Fonoaudiólogos de San Juan, había organizado una reunión para que yo trasmita mi forma de trabajo y muestre los resultados que obtengo. Así lo hice y aunque aún ahora me parece extraño, estoy dando cursos sobre esta metodología que fui desarrollando con los años en base a la clínica.

Les cuento en concreto mi forma de trabajo.

Cuando llega un niño/a que no logra aprender la lectoescritura o que ya lee pero presenta errores de “tipo” disléxico, además de descartar lo neurológico, por lo general veo algunos de los siguientes errores:

• Conocen el nombre de las letras pero no su sonido
• Pueden decir algunas letras o vocales pero no logran armar una silaba.
• En el texto dice “le” y el paciente lee “el”,
• En el texto dice “es” y el paciente lee “se”,
• En el texto dice “grasa” y el paciente lee “garsa”,
• En el texto dice “los” y el paciente lee “sol”,
• En el texto dice “rocoso” y el paciente lee “rococoso” o “roso”,
• Pierde el renglón mientras lee o repite lo ya leído, etc etc.

La sintomatología es múltiple y si ya saben leer los errores se dan tanto en la lectura como en la escritura. También se da en matemáticas pero no quiero cansarlos con tantos detalles

En resumen investigo Gestalt, lateralidad en general y específicamente de ojo, lateralidad cruzada, uso de mano contrariada, habilidades visuales sobre todo el barrido ocular y el enfoque. Además miro el sistema familiar y la imagen interna del pequeño y del grupo familiar sobre él. Investigo otras áreas más pero vuelvo a no querer cansarlos.

Esto determina si el niño/a es zurdo o diestro en cada una de estas áreas (oído, ojo, mano, pie). En la mayoría de los casos los niños/as con dificultad en la adquisición de la lectoescritura o con errores de tipo disléxico son pacientes con predominancia de ojo izquierdo, lateralidad cruzada y mano contrariada.

Lo novedoso del tratamiento, por lo menos acá en San Juan, es que mi ejercitación apunta a reeducar el movimiento y enfoque de los ojitos cuando leen o escriben. El niño/a que es zurdo de ojo tiene un barrido contrario a la lectura y de ahí sus errores. Cuando reeduco esto desaparecen los errores de la lectura que les comente anteriormente. En la clínica me pasa que llegan niños/as que “padecieron” el aprendizaje de la lectura durante dos y tres años, repitiendo el grado y sintiéndose en un infierno. Comenzamos a trabajar y en la segunda o tercer sesión ya leen palabras. Para la cuarta, como mucho, logran leer frases. Los padres lloran, los niños dejan de sentir que son los peores del mundo y en los casos extremos, en que fueron mal derivados a educación especial, los saco de ahí y los reintegramos a educación común. Trabajo con sus familias y algunas veces visito sus casas, en realidad trabajo mucho con las madres, porque los padres están trabajando.

Hay una desarmonía entre los hemisferios derecho e izquierdo. Trabajo con el hemisferio derecho. Con el gestal, con la conciencia fonológica, con las creencias, con la percepción háptica entre otros temas. Al principio elimino la visión (el 80% del aprendizaje entra por la visión) y enseño a través del tacto y la audición. Utilizo las funciones neurológicas de adquirir lo correcto y la extinción de errores. Por supuesto, lucho con el sistema escolar y su manera de enseñar.

Puedo hablar horas sobre esta temática. Hay miles de detalles más, imaginen que son cerca de 35 años de investigación. Desde ya me pongo a disposición de todos los padres de niños/as a los que les cueste el aprendizaje lector. Basta con que me comenten este post y con gusto tratare de ayudarlos sin costo alguno y las veces que lo necesiten. Solo tendrán que tener paciencia porque repetiré una y mil veces que donde vivo, valle cordillerano, no tengo internet en mi casa. Solo en alguna plaza o confitería. Hay en el hospital pero en horas laborales no uso la red.
