Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (5)
Hi kids!
Yes I know, it is Thursday and I am one day late.
I’m sure you will forgive me. After all what is a day between friends?
There was no correct answer for last week’s game.
Believe me, you are going to kick yourself for not getting this one right.
Let’s take a look at the clues:
1. It is a 10 letter word
2. It is a compound word
3. It is large
4. It has to be up to date all the time
5. It is very helpful
💡 A compound word is a word which is formed by putting two words together like school+book=schoolbook.
💡 The next clue says it is large so it cannot be schoolbook.
And the word is… SCOREBOARD
The definition of an scoreboard - A scoreboard is a large board for publicly displaying the score in a game. It is for sure helpful and it must always be right.

The game is exactly like last week;
The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.
Of importance it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel like an emotion.
BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;
- It is a thinking game
- It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
- It grows your vocabulary
The contest
For today I am going to give you the letter with which the word starts plus 5 points or “clues” which you can take in consideration to figure out what the word can be.
Ready or not… let’s learn, play and win!
I spy with my little eye something that begins with the letter “P”.
Clues:
1. It is a 11 letter word
2. You will find it in nature
3. It is a brown, greyish colour
4. It is about 60 to 90 cm long
5. It can hurt you!

My first guess was porcupine 🤥, but when I counted the letters it didn't sum upto 11
So I had to use the clues given to find the word
It was so hard to find, but I came up with my guess, I think the answer is "pycnogonida"
Which using the clue
1: it is 11 letters
2: you find it in nature
3:it is brown and greyish in color
4: it is 60-90 cm long
5: it can hurt
pycnogonida
Guess what?

Hi @patjewell, I became curious while reading this game-post. I know that game from my childhood too and remember playing with my son. But in our game it was:
I spy with my little eye and it is ...then we call the colour, or shape or anything else as hint.
Of course, when plying in reality we are able to ask some more questions that is why I was wondering if that is possible here too. If yes, I have some:
When you mentioned that can hurt, that made me think about animal, but when I chatted to my son he said, no it can not be because you described it as "it".

Thank you for your hints and clarification. Actually I thought to think about that tomorrow or so but I just could not stop searching for the answer. My first guess was "porcupine" it fits in many parameter but only does not fit because of the number of the letters in this word, as it is only 9. But I just had no clues, it is a shame :(
