STEEM Investing Contest 42th Edition, so..so.. close!

As I sat next to the ocean waiting for my husband to launch his jetski, the idiom "Die oggendstond het goud in die mond" (the early morning has gold in its mouth) was all around me. What a beautiful world we live in!

Whenever my husband goes out on the ocean, I drive with him. I like to see with my own eyes that he launches safely and does the same for beaching. I am always a bit of a nervous wreck, as so easily something can go wrong.

The ocean itself was a bit rough this morning, with some big waves rolling out in between the smaller ones. One thing was for sure: he would have to get his timing right.

There were a few boats launching, and as the tractor pushed them, I was watching the waves counting... 1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7 and the next wave crest is there. 1… 2… 3… 4… 5… and again. For the perfect launch condition, there should be at least a 15-second period.

I was getting nervous, but I knew I shouldn't. One thing I have learned from my husband is that if the timing is not right, he will not launch, although we got up at 4 this morning to get ready for today’s fishing. He will turn around, put the jetski back on the trailer, and we will go home. His life is his investment, and he values it.

After waiting for nearly 15 minutes, he got his break, and he launched the perfect launch! Sigh!

As I sat in the car, the thought of my investment crossed my mind. I also value my life, but is it my investment? No, it’s not. I took my phone and went to my Wallet. Steemit is my investment. It is something I am enjoying, and it is something I am building.

As it is my investment, I put all my effort into it. I post regularly, I vote, I comment, and I power up. I invest in my investment, making sure that it grows. It is only through my support and powerups that I can play a part in the STEEM ecosystem.

I got so excited that I did my weekly power-up right there and then with the noise of the ocean still in my ears.

It was only afterwards that I realized how close I am to my 5th dolphin! Should I not have waited for a bit more STEEM?

Was my timing right this morning? Oh YES! Somehow I got it right: in between the before, the during, and the after, I got all messed up. How I got it right, heaven knows. What matters is that I power up 173.435 STEEM and I am left with some extra STEEM to "start" the last stretch to 25,000 SP.

Powering up is always good timing!
